Brookfield Cemetery

Submitted by Judy McGee

Rev. Isaac Brookfield (Chart) came to Arkansas from New Jersey in 1819 as a missionary to the whites and Indians. In 1834, he moved to a farm he called Spring Valley. Spring Valley was located just east of what was to become the county seat of Poinsett County in 1836, the town of Bolivar. Records show that Isaac was the postmaster of Bolivar in 1834. In addition to being a local preacher, he was also in the mercantile business.
Rev. Isaac Brookfield died in 1845 and is buried in the cemetery along with other family members.

DIRECTIONS. The Brookfield Cemetery is located on the Larry Paul Lylerly farm. It is on a hill east of the Bolivar Cemetery.
