The 12th Regt was organized 27 Jul 1861 and surrendered at Island #10  on 7 Apr 1862. Men who were not captured served with the 3rd and 6th regiments until the regiment was reorganized. Exchanged in late 1862. Reorganized at Jackson, MS 2 Oct 1862. Surrendered at Port Hudson, LA 8 Jul 1863. Paroled later that month. Consolidated with other units and designated as the 2nd Inf Regt Consolidated, Trans-Mississippi Dept 11 Jan 1864.

NOTE: Island #10 was a fortified island in the Mississippi River at New Madrid, MO.

NOTE: Some of the men not captured 8 Apr 1862 at Island #10 were organized into 2 companues and assigned on 16 Jun 1862 as second companies D and  F 6th AR Inf Regt and returned to the 12th Regt after it was reorganized 2 Oct 1862.

(NOTE: From the record of events of Co D: "Nearly the whole of this company escaped capture at Island #10. It has reorganized and is at present attached to the 6th Ark Regt.")

EUBANKS, WILLIAM B. Acting Asst Surgeon. On a list of medical officers in garrison at Port Hudson, LA 10 Jul 1863.

GANTT, R.W. Col.  - Enl 27 Jul 1861 at Arkadelphia, AR. Regimental commander. Captured 8 Apr 1862 at Island #10. Released 31 Jul 1862, to be exchanged.

HEMINGWAY, WILLIAM Adjutant  - See 2 AR Cav. Killed at Port Hudson, LA 25 May-2 Jun 1863.

REED, T.J. Col  - Captured 9 Jul 1863 at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at New Orleans, LA 15 Jul 1863. Escaped. Violated his parole. Ordered to report to Gen Polk Aug1864.

SMITH, JOHN C. Cpt  - Captured 9 Jul 1863  at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at Johnson's Island, OH. Released 16May1865. Ht 5' 5", eyes gray, hair drk, complx fair, residence: St Louis, MO.

DONNELL, WILLIAM P. Cpt  - Captured 9 Jul 1863 at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at Custom House, New Orleans, LA to New York to Johnson's Island, OH then to Point Lookout, MD 16 Feb 1865.

FRILKS, ARCHIBALD L. 1Lt  - Captured 9 Jul 1863  at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at New York then to Fortress Monroe. In Richmond, VA hospital 21 Oct 1864 and furloughed.

HARDING, JAMES L. 2Lt  - Captured 9 Jul 1863  at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at New Orleans, LA then th New York then to Johnson's Island, OH13 Oct 1863 to Point Lookout, MD21 Mar 1865. Released 12 Jun 1865.

JONAS, CHARLES H. Cpt   - Captured 9 Jul 1863  at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at New Orleans, LA then to New York  then to Johnson's Island, OH 15 Oct 1863 then to Point Looklut, MD 14 Mar 1865.

MANN, J.S. Lt   - Captured 9 Jul 1863 at Port Hudson, LA. and sent to MP at Washington, D.C. 20 May 1864 then to Johnson's Island, OH then to Ft Delaware, DE. Age 26.

PENDLETON, W.H. Pvt  - Paroled 17 Jun 1865 at Shreveport, LA.

POST, WILLIAM Sgt  - Captured 9 Jul 1863 and paroled 12-13 Jul 1863 at Port Hudson, LA.

STONE, W.C. Lt  - Captured 9 Jul 1863  at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at  New Orleans, LA then to Johnson's Island, OH 13 Oct 1863 . In hospital at Richmond, VA 9 May 1864. Furloughed. Released 16 May 1865. Age 20.

THORNTON, JOHN R. 1Lt   - Captured 9 Jul 1863 at Port Hudson, LA and sent to MP at New Orleans, LA 15 Jul  1863 to New York Harbor 10 Oct 1863 to Johnson's Island, OH 13 Oct 1863. Released 19 May 1865. Ht 6' 2", eyes gray, hair lt, complx lt, age 23, residence: Houston, TX.

WALDEN, S.L. Pvt  Paroled 16 May 1865 at Tallahassee, FL.

WOOD, JAMES R. Pvt  - Took oath 25 Apr 1864 at Pine Bluff, AR. Ht 5' 6", eyes hazel, hair brn, complx drk, age 38, residence: Princeton, AR.
