Cemetery of Poinsett Co.

Wilson Cemetery

Compiled by Juanita Terry Talbot, 1993

This cemetery was called Bevens Cemetery in the early years, for the Beven family donated land for the cemetery. The oldest tombstone is marked 1896, but the cemetery was probably used earlier than that date. There are several unmarked graves.
Ronnie Hawes donated additonal land for the cemetery in 1992.
In early spring, there is a clean-up day for the cemetery, Jerry Jacobs is presently (1993) care-taker and his wife, Clara is keeper of the records. They live just south of the cemetery and appreciate any help they can get from people who have family and friends buried there. It is through their efforts that this listing is available.

DIRECTIONS. From intersection of Highway 1 and 14 at the stop sign, take Highway 461 north for 6.2 miles. Turn east on Highway 158 and go 1 mile to Old Military Lane. Turn south on Old Military Lane and continue .3 mile. Cemetery is on the east side of the road.
