-Submitted by Judy McGee

William Everett Stancell and his wife Caroline E. long Stancell came to Arkansas from North Carolina in 1854 (see notes on Hays Cemetery). He was a planter and merchant and settled in the Bethel Community near the present town of Harrisburg. He entered a timber tract, which he improved, but only lived two years, his death occurring in October of 1856. His wife Caroline died in 1869.
Though no monument stands for their resting place, the oldest grave is that of their daughter, Catherine A. Stancell Harris, wife of John M. Harris who died August 10, 1870
