Elvira (Harris) Sparks was the daughter of Capt. Benjamin and Martha (Thrower) Harris. Capt. Benjamin & Martha Harris were among the earliest settlers of Poinsett County, and they were the founders of the town of Harrisburg, which was named in their honor.
