MRS. VINSON

Mrs. Juanita Worthington Vinson, 71, of Trumann, died Tuesday
(1-4-2000) at her home.  Born July 1, 1928 at Swifton, she had lived in
Trumann for the past 49 years.  She was a retired employee of
the Parker Hannifin Corp. in Trumann and a member of the First
Assembly of God, where she was active in the women's ministries
and Sunday school class.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheralyn Holder of Trumann and
Carolyn S. Moss of Harrisburg; five sons, Jerry L. Vinson, Larry
D. Vinson, Robert E. Vinson, all of Trumann, Ira Wayne Vinson of
Jonesboro and Ricky H. Vinson of Gardendale, AL; three sisters,
Alma Wright of Newport, Mary Hester Young of St. Louis, MO, and
Emogene Gentry of Bald Knob; two brothers, Mitchell Worthington
of Swifton and Robert Worthington of Trumann; 14 grandchildren
and nine great grandchildren.  She was preceeded in death by her
husband, Rassie Harlan "Red" Vinson, one sister and two
brothers and was the daughter of the late Matthew & Lily Hopkins
Worthington.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the First
Assembly of God on North Willow Road in Trumann, with Rev. Kenneth
Doke and Rev. Larry Tribble officiating.  Burial will follow in
Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.  Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of
Trumann is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jason Lamb, Glen D. Vinson, Larry D. Vinson,
Lynn Vinson, Michael Vinson and Robert A. Vinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Chandler, Carmack Johnson, Leroy
Mabe, Kenny Maxwell, Herb Maxwell and Dub Smith.
Visitation will be this afternoon from 5 until 8 this evening at

MRS. WADDLE

Mrs. Evelyn Waddle, 90, of Harrisburg, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999)
at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg. Mrs. Waddle was born Sep.
26, 1909, at Brighton, AR, to the late Dr. W.W. and Nancy Moody Verser.
She was a pharmacist and was the owner of Waddle Drug Store with her
husband, Allen Waddle.  She served as president of the local Literary
Club, the Northeast District Women's Literary Club and the Harrisburg
Garden Club.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by one brother,
Dr. Joe Verser.
Survivors include one nephew, Joe William Verser of Jonesboro.
Graveside services will be this afternoon at 2 at Harrisburg Memorial
Park, with Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Burial will be under the
direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 this afternoon until time of services at
the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg.


WAGNER

Burley Thomas Wagner, 98, 545 Butterfield, Trumann, died Friday
morning (1-7-2000) in the Regional Medical Center of NEA in
Jonesboro.  He was born March 22, 1901 in Cardwell, MO, and spent most
of his lifetime in Trumann.  He was retired from the Singer Company and
was a member of the Woodmen of the World and of the Pentecostal
church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Fritz &
Emma Shultz Wagner; two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mae Catherine Williams of Trumann; six
nieces, Mrs. Emma Sue Bullock of Jonesboro, Mrs. Ann Auberry of
Indianapolis, Mrs. Wanda Biggs of Paragould, Mrs. Katherine Martin and
Mrs. Betty Rose of CA; two nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 in the chapel
of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Anthony Patterson and Frank
Bufford officiating.  Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery in
Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be Randy Stone, Billy Baker, Chad O'Brien, Guy Smith,
Oliver Hinds and David Hicks.  Honorary pallbearers will be H.R. Collins,
Richard Collins, Roger Bullock, Stephen Hammell, Eric Bullock, Jordan Halfacre

Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite L. Walker, 85, of Trumann, who died Sunday
(2-20-2000) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, will be held at
1:30 Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with
the Rev. Jamison May officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Formerly of Cabot, Mrs. Walker was born in Trumann and had lived in Trumann for the past
10 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Trumann.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Marie Merrifield of Memphis; a sister, Imogene Zapora
of Millburg, MI; a brother, John F. Sadler of Trumann; 11 grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Oscar Walker, and three daughters and one brother.

Mrs. Merle Francis Walker, 64, of 605 West Main, Trumann, died Sunday morning at her home.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1935 in Ramer, TN and lived in Trumann for 61 years. She was the
owner of Walker's Dairy Bar and was a member of the Trumann Revival Center. She was the
daughter of the late Archie and Elsie Carter Jones.
Survivors include her husband, C.G. Walker of the home; one daughter, Paulette Fletcher of
Trumann; two sisters, Mrs. Lola Luna and Mrs. Edna Knuckles, both of Trumann; and
two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 10 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of
Trumann with Rev. Harold McMasters and Rev. Carter Grindstaff officiating. Burial will follow
in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lillie Brown Walker, 97, of Weiner, died Saturday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical
Center. Born at Fisher, she was a homemaker and a founding member of the Weiner United
Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.M. "Mert" Walker and a daughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Everett of Hillsboro, MO, and Reda Prestidge of
Branch, LA; a foster son, Frank Fulmer of Weiner; a sister, Bessie Avery of West Frankfurt,
IL; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 this afternoon at the Weiner United Methodist
Church with Rev. Marion Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Weiner Cemetery under
the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.

Emma Lucinda McKnight Walker, 84, of Weiner, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at her residence.
Mrs. Walker was born May 12, 1919 in Weiner, AR to Eli and Etta McKnight.  She lived in Weiner all her life.
She was a farm wife, mother and homemaker.  Mrs. Walker was a member of Cooper & Haynes Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jonathan Walker; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Earl E. Walker of the home; two sons, Sammy W. Walker of Jonesboro, Gary L. Walker of Weiner;
one daughter Barbara J. Walker McKenzie of Niceville, FL; five grandchildren, Charles McKenzie, Cindy McKenzie, Dewayne Walker,
Trish Walker Priddy, and James Walker; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 1 at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Weiner, AR.  Officiating minister was David Howard.
Interment followed at Walker Cemetery.

James C. "Slim" Wallace, 79y, of Trumann, died Tuesday (2-15-2000)
at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.  He was retired from
the Singer Co. after 35 years of service and was of the Church of Christ
Belief.
Survivors include three brothers, Harry Wallace of Florence, AL, Donald Wallace
of Peoria, IL, Arlon Wallace of Lexington, NC, and one sister, Reba McClure of
Trumann.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 10 at Tyronza Cemetery,
with Bill Willard officiating. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro
has charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Walter Marvel, Charley Fritz, Roger Wallace, Jim Fowler,
Rick Wallace, David McCammon and Dewey Crossno.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 5 until 8 that evening at the funeral

Funeral services for William Elmer "Jack" Wallace Sr., 73, of Trumann, who died Tuesday at his
residence, will be held at 10 Friday morning in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann,
with the Rev. Ricky Dobbins officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the
Palestine Cemetery in Lexington, TN.
Honorary pallbearers will include Donnie Taylor, James Jones, Bill Cook, Elton Gartman, Hollis
George and Grady Rouse.
Born in Huron, TN, and formerly of Lexington, TN, he had lived in Trumann for the past 50 years.
He owned and operated Jacks Texaco in Trumann for many years, was a security guard at Baldwin Piano
Company and a former employee of the Singer Company. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a former
member of the Trumann City Council and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Dickson Wallace of the home; two daughters, Patsy Jean Kessell of
Burton, MI, and Robbie Ann Beal of Leachville; four sons, William Elmer Wallace Jr., Rodney Jack
Wallace and Joe Melton Wallace, all of Trumann, and Timothy Carter Wallace of Harrisburg; eight
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Crystal Wallace, three sisters, three brothers and
was the son of the late Joe M. and Emma Britton Wallace.

Heath Dewayne Walling, 18, of 318 Norcross, Tyronza, died of natural causes Sunday at
the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. He was a member of the Red Oak Baptist
Church and was a senior at East Poinsett County School in Lepanto.
Survivors include his parents, Buster and Taresa Walling of Tyronza; one sister, Whitney
Paige Walling of Tyronza; one brother, Johnathon Daniel Walling of Tyronza; his paternal
grandparents, Jimmy and Gwen Walling of Lepanto; his maternal grandparents, Edward and
Nadine Green of Tyronza; and his adopted grandparents, Rolen and Robbie Smith of Tyronza.

Deaton and William Wilket officiating. Burial will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery in
Lepanto.

Mrs. Wanda Jean Walton, 57, of Trumann, died Thursday morning at the Regional Medical Center
of NEA in Jonesboro. Born in Marked Tree, she was a longtime resident of the Trumann area.
She was the manager for Willow Point Inn in Trumann and a member of the Church of God in
Trumann.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Dale Walton of the home; three daughters, Jerita Jo Tucker
of Jonesboro, Tyler Wren Parnell and Tanya Renee Davis, both of Trumann; one brother, Bobby Wren
of Payneway; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. JoAnn Rawls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Sunday afternoon at the Church of God on Balcom Lane in Trumann,
with the Rev. Gary Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro, under the

Mrs. Helen Cole Ward, 69, of 402 Parkview, Jonesboro, died
Saturday (1-1-2000) at her home.  Born in Harrisburg, she was a
lifetime resident of the Jonesboro and Harrisburg area.  She was
a retired beauty operator and worked in her family's business,
Ward Television Service.  She was a member of the St. Paul United
Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Ward of the home; one
daughter, Cynthia Hannah of Jonesboro; one brother, Wilburn Cole
of Harrisburg; two sisters, Ruby Branson of Jonesboro and Pat
Hazelwood of West Memphis; and two grandchildren.  She was proceded
in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be Monday at noon at Emerson Funeral Home's
Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Michael Sutton and Rev. Joe VanCleve
officiating.  Burial will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park
Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruby Clark Ward, 84, of Newport, died Friday at Newport. Born in Fisher, she
was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God.
Survivors include one son, Acel Clark of Weiner; two daughters, Gladys Cooper and Zelza
Easter, both of Grubbs; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 10
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Clark; her second husband, Burl
Ward; one son, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 Monday morning at the Jackson's Newport Funeral Home, with
Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner.

Robert Edwin Watson, 88, of Marked Tree, died Sunday at his residence.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death
by one daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Watson of the home; two daughters, Marie Lovelace of
Horseshoe Lake and Jerita Tilley of Marked Tree; three sons, Lt. Col. Jerry Watson of
Colorado Springs, CO, James E. Watson of Highland, IL, and Mike Watson of Atlanta, GA;
one sister, Althera Gordon of Lepanto; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and
three great-grandsons.
Services will be at 1:30 on Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree,
with Joe Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery, with Murphy Funeral
Home of Marked Tree in charge of arrangements.

Tarrick Allan Watson, one month-old son of Honey Mae Ann Watson of Weiner, Route 2, died at his
residence Tuesday, July 17th.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his maternal grandparents, Bill and Lena Mae Kellar Watson,
of Miami, TX; and two grandfathers, Willie Kellar of Newport and Vernie Watson of Jonesboro.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 Thursday afternoon, July 19th, in the chapel of Jackson's
Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Huskey officiating.  Burial was in Ballews Chapel Cemetery at
Grubbs.

Vernie Watson, 80, of Jonesboro died Friday, May 18, at Lakeside Nursing Home in Lake City.
Born in Harrisburg, he was a retired farmer and security guard, a WW II Army veteran and of
the Baptist belief.
Survivors include three sons, Loyd L. Watson of Miana, TX, Billy Joe Watson of Lipan, TX, and
James Watson of Jonesboro; five daughters, Betty Coy of Granburg, TX, Linda Watson Gann of
Jonesboro, Pauline "Paula" Harris of Conway, Bertha "Bo" Doyle of Brookland and Lois Sharp of
Millington, TN; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Bell Rodney Watson, and two daughters.
Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Farm Hill Cemetery in Harrisburg, with the Rev.
Jerry Jolly officiating. Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Watts died Saturday morning at her home in Trumann. Mrs. Watts was born
May 13, 1912 in Tennessee and had lived in Trumann since 1938. She was a homemaker
and was of the Baptist belief.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dewey Watts in 1974; and by one
daughter, Lizzie Mae Bookhammer; three sons, Carl Watts, James Watts and Junior Watts;
two sisters and three brothers and was the daughter of the late George and Fannie
Johnson Williams.
Survivors include three sons, Clifton Watts of New Albany, MS., Billy Watts and
Bobby Watts, both of Trumann; one sister, Rena Jacks of Fayetteville, TN; three
brothers, Levi Williams and Lois Williams, both of Nashville, TN, and Morgan
Williams of Flint, MI; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Nellie C. Weaver, 73, of Colt, died Saturday at St. Bernard's Regional
Medical Center of Jonesboro. She was a member of the Cherry Valley Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Abraham Lincoln Weaver of the home; three sons, David
Weaver of Wynne, Sammy Weaver of Rogers and Ray Weaver of Proctor; three daughters,

Born at Covington, TN, she had lived in Trumann since 1938. She was a homemaker and was of the
Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, Woodrow Milton Carter of Florida, J.W. Carter of Paisley, FL, and
Thurman Carter and William Carter, both of Umatilla, FL; 12 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James K. "Vard" Westmoreland
in 1992, one daughter and was the daughter of the late Frank & Del Richardson.

Charles O. "Chuck" Whitlatch, 67, of Harrisburg, died Friday at St. Bernard's Regional

Mr. Whitlatch was born July 9, 1932 in Trumann to the late John & Lois Garrett Whitlatch.  He
worked in the timber business and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Harrisburg. He was preceded
in death by his parents, one brother, Virgil Whitlatch and two sisters, Helen Webb and Geneva Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife Geneva Parish Whitlatch of the home; a daughter, Paula Stephens of
Cherry Valley; a brother, Clyde Whitlatch of Harrisburg; a sister, Louise Belfour of Baker, OR; three
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Miss Odell Whitman, 81, of Harrisburg, died Friday at Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg.
Miss Whitman was born Sep. 20, 1918, in Dellrose, TN, and had lived in the Trumann and
Harrisburg area for the past 19 years, was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sisters, Ola Mae Gregory of Trumann, Ethelyne Cantrell of Amory,
MS, and Opal Graves of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by two sisters and five brothers and was the daughter of the late Benton and Addie Gertrude
Mitchell Whitman, Sr.

HEART ATTACK IS FATAL WHEN HOME IS DESTROYED BY FIRE
The Home of Mrs. Martha Julia Whitney on Harrisburg, Route 1, was destroyed by fire Monday
evening, December 4, about 7 o'clock.
While Mrs. Whitney was helping neighbors to remove some of the household goods from her home,
she became ill and as assisted by friends to some distance from the blazing house. A few minutes
later, she suffered a heart attack and died in the arms of a friends.
She had lived in that community for two yaars. Her husband, John Whitney died a few months ago.
She was born February 6 in Knoxvill, TN, being 62 years, 9 months and 28 days of age.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at three o'clock at the Holly Springs Chapel three
miles east of Harrisburg by the Rev. T. Richard Reid of Jonesboro.
Surviving are nine children; Mrs. Mary Sue Marshall and Mrs. Julia Hand of Pocahontas; George,
Tom, Jasper and Jim, of Trumann; Mrs. Nannie Murphy of Trumann; Mrs. Victory Baker of Pitcher, OK;
Sgt. Oscar Lee Hogan of the Army; two brothers, Joe and Dan Smith of Harrisburg; two sisters,
Mary Smith of Texas, and Mrs. Lizzie Boyd of Harrisburg; twelve grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.

Jonathan Adam Wiley, 20, of 720 Pine St., Trumann, died Friday in a four-wheel all-terrain
vehicle accident near Trumann. He was a welder and a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.

Jonathan Adam Wiley II, both of Trumann; two sisters, Laquitta Nelson and Gail Ross, both of

death by his mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Kevin Fisher.

HARRISBURG EDUCATOR DIED AT 71
Long time Harrisburg educator, James Ralph Williams, 71, died Saturday at Methodist Central
Hospital in Memphis. He had been in ill health for some time.
Born in Billmore, MO, Williams came to Harrisburg in 1930 as a coach at Harrisburg High School.
He also taught science and algebra. He left his post a HHS during World War II to serve in the
U.S. Navy. He was appointed principal at HHS in 1962, serving in that capacity until 1968 when
he retired.
Williams was preceded in death three years ago by his wife, Louise Griffin Williams. They had no
children.
Surviving are one brother, Paul Williams of Piggott; two sisters, Mrs. Farris McDonough of Houston,
Texas, and Mrs. Lucy Walker of Searcy, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Jackson Funeral Home chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev.
J. Anthony Holifield officiating.
Burial was in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery with Jackson Funeral Home in charge of services.

and two brothers.

the late Egbert and Jewell Lauderdale Counce.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Simmons of Marion and Audrey Webb of Trumann; four sons,
Paul and Kenneth Williams of Rochelle, IL, Jerry Williams of Green Forrest and Chris Turic
of Dardanelle; two sisters, Lorene Davidson and Charlene Carlson both of Missouri; nine

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Williams, and by one daughter, three

Born Jan. 7, 1920, in Lunsford, he had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was
retired from the Navy and a member of the McCormick Baptist Church in Trumann. Preceding
him death were two sisters, Hattie Lou Hale and Irene Gee; one brother, John Williams,
and was the son of the late J.A. and Mandy Florida Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Williams of the home; one daughter, Jayne Ring of Trumann;
one brother, Odell Williams of Trumann; and two grandchildren, Lyle Humphreys and Alicia
Humphreys, both of Trumann.

TWO-CAR CRASH FATAL TO MRS. ANNA WOLF OF WALDENBURG.
Mrs. Anna F. Wolf, 61, of Waldenburg was fatally injured and her son, Freddie, 31, was seriously
hurt Thursday night at 9:20 in a two-car crash at the intersection of Hwy 14 and 17 five miles
east of Newport.
Mrs. Wolf died enroute to a hospital in Memphis. Scott Brown, State Trooper, said Mrs. Wolf was
a passenger in a car driven east on Hwy 14 by her son.
The Trooper said another car going north on Hwy 17 driven by Howard Richmond of Augusta, failed
to stop at a yield the right of way sign and the car collided with the Wolf car.
Richmond was seriously injured and taken to a Little Rock Hospital. Freddie Wolf is in a Newport
Hospital.
Mrs. Wolf was born in Waldenburg, and she was the widow of Alfred Wolf. She was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church in Waldenburg.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Harold Meyer of St. Louis, Mrs. George Bockleman of Springhill,
Kan., Miss Clara Ruth Wolf of Kansas City; three sons, Alfred C. Wolf of Waldenburg, Robert Wolf

MRS. WOLF

Mrs. Elsie L. Wolf, 93, of Fisher, died Tuesday at Craighead Nursing Center. Born in
Harrisburg, she was a longtime resident of the Fisher area.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg, where
she was active in the Braille Society.
Survivors include one son, Art Wolf of Fisher; one brother, Paul Wolf of Waldenburg;
three sisters, Gladys Scholze of Waldenburg, Irma Wright of Jonesboro and Alice Dale of
North Little Rock; six grandchildren, four great-granchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in
Waldenburg, with Paul Leigheber officiating. Burial will follow in Waldenburg Cemetery,
under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Weiner.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Genevish, Mike Wolf, Alan Wolf and Dan Wolf.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg.



WOODHAM

Hershel W. Woodham, 81, of Cherry Valley, died Thursday, November 6, 1997, at his home.
Born in Cross County, he was the son of the late William Sherman and Ada Mae Henderson Woodham and was
a retired farmer.  Woodham was one of the original board members of Farmer Suppy Association in
Harrisburg, and a member of the Farmers Union and Riceland Foods. He was also a member of Whitehall
Church of Christ and served on the Cherry Valley City Council.
Surviving are his wife, Ester Boyles Woodham, of the home; two sons Sherman Woodham of Cordova, TN and
Carl Woodham of Cherry Valley; four daughters, Fay Hall of Lancaster, CA, Martha Blake, North Little Rock,
Dorothy Lace of Woodbridge, VA and Nancy Mardis of Forrest City; a sister Lorea Nowlin, New Albany, MS;
11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one
son, Donald Woodham; a daughter, Henrietta Woodham; one brother, Howard Woodham and three sisters,
Mae Hogan, Addie Ezell and Dottie Casey.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 1997, at the Harrisburg Church of Christ with
Jerry Morgan, Greg Brooks and Gene Catterton officiating. Burial was in Tyer Cememtery at Cherry Valley
under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, Jeff Woodham, Carl Woodham, Jr.; Warren Woodham, Bert Lace, Bart Lace,
Greg Mardis, John Mardis and Keven Mardis.

Howard Earl Woodham, 69, of Harrisburg, died Saturday at Cross County Hospital in Wynne.  Born in Cherry Valley,
he was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

HARRISBURG - Josephine Worley Woodham, 88, of Harrisburg died Friday, Feb 20, in Jonesboro.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Whitehall.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Mike Wallace, Donald Wallace, David Wallace, John Wallace and Terry Wallace;
and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Woodham, one daughter, Linda Jean Woodham Wallace; her parents,
John Issac and Sarah Gray Worley; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with Cecil Parker officiating.
Burial will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park.

Mrs. Penny Lynn Davis Woolbright, 39, of Trumann, died Monday at her residence. Born at Trumann,
she was a cosmetologist for many years and a member of the Viva Drive Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Woolbright of the home; and her parents, Eddie and Karen
Davis of Trumann.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann with
Bill Willard and Joe Sprangler officiating. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Jimmy Davis, Jackie Davis, Marvin Davis, Chad Davis, David Davis,

Garland Edward Wood, 69, of Marked Tree, died Thursday at St. Bernard's Regional
Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a farmer and was of the Pentecostal belief.

Florence, AL., Ruth Wood of Jonesboro and Janice Lung of Marion; two sons, Johnny
Edward Wood and Jimmy Joe Wood of Jonesboro; three sisters, Jewell Crawford of St.
Louis, MO, Ruth Remms and Earline Wood, both of Texas; six brothers, Joe Wood of
Florence, AL, Clyde Wood, Kenneth Wood and Buddy Wood, all of Marked Tree, Bill Wood
of Florida and William Wood of Michigan; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be this afternoon at 1 at Wilson Funeral Home of Tyronza, with

MRS. WOODARD

Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie Veonia "Mollie" Woodard, 93, of Trumann, who died Friday at the
Monette Manor Nursing Home, will be Monday afternoon at 1 at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Rev.
Anthony Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born at Paragould, she lived most of her life at Trumann and Caraway. She was a homemaker and a member
of the Assembly of God.
Survivors include five sons, C.M. Woodard of Lake City, D.B. Woodard of Bono, R.A. Woodard of Trumann,
Euklie Woodard of Northridge, CA, Robert Charles Woodard of Lynn; one daughter, Annetta McAninch of St.
Louis, MO; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Raven Woodard and by two daughters.
Visitation will be this afternoon from 3 until 6 this evening at the funeral home.
For lasting memorials the family requests that consideration be given to a hospice program.


VAN R. WOODS SUCCUMBS TO PNEUMONIA

Van R. Woods died at the home of his son, A.W. Woods, near the Log Cabin Inn
about ten o'clock Tuesday morning from pneumonia.  He had only been ill with
pneumonia a few days.
He was 76 years, 6 months and 10 days old.
His remains were carried to Salem, Mo., Wednesday morning for Interment.

FORMER SALEM RESIDENT DIES

V.R. Woods passed away at Harrisburg, Ark. January 26th, and the body was brought
here yesterday for burial.  Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at the Hobson
funeral parlor with the Rev. J. Linn Haw in charge.  Burial will be at the local Cedar Grove
cemetery.  The deceased is the father of O.E. Woods, and is a former Salem resident.
An obituary will appear in this paper next week.

VAN RANSLER WOODS

Van Ransler Woods was born at Evansville, Indiana, July 16, 1855, and died at
Harrisburg, Arkansas, January 26, 1932.  He joined the Christian Church with his
wife when a young man, and he transferred his membership to the Methodist Church
after he had lived in Salem awhile.  His wife (Mary Rebecca CALVIN) preceded him in
death June 6, 1928.  He has lived in the following places:  Evansville, IN;
St. Louis, MO; Winfield, KS; Salem, MO; and Harrisburg.
He leaves to mourn his loss, three sons, E.O. Woods of Salem, Alfred Woods of
Harrisburg, AR, and Frank Woods of Joplin, three daughters, Mrs. Helen McClendon
of St. Louis, Mrs. Cora Wilson and Mrs. A.L. Schryver of Laramie, WY;  two brothers,
and two sisters, who live in Indiana; six grandchildren, five great grand children,
as well as other relatives and many friends.
The funeral services were conducted in the Hobson & Grantham Undertaking Parlors
by Rev. J.Linn Haw, Thursday afternoon, January 28, at 2:00 o'clock.  Interment was
made in the local Cedar Grove cemetery.

WOODS

Alfred Wilson Woods, age 55 years, died at his home about one mile east of this city last
Sunday night at 11:40, after an illness of several days with pneumonia.
His funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 by the Poinsett Lodge
No. 184, Free and Accepted Masons, after which the remains were carried to the
Harrisburg Cemetery where the
last Masonic rites were performed.
Mr. Woods was born Feb. 13, 1877 at Butler, Mo., the oldest son of Van R. and Mary Calvin Woods.
His childhood and early youth was spent in and around Springfield, Mo.  At the age of seventeen
his family moved to Colorado, where he grew to manhood.  On January 16, 1901 he was united in
marriage to Miss Alta Barker, at Rocky Ford, CO.  Of this union four children were born, three
of whom died in infancy.  He was accepted into the light of Free Masonry at Cortez, CO in 1913,
and advanced to the Mystic Shrine in India Temple, at Oklahoma City in 1923.  He united with the
Presbyterian Church in 1923.
Mr. Woods moved here about five years ago.  He was the proprietor of the Log Cabin Inn, about
one mile east of this city.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. M.H. Thompson, of this city, three sisters and two
brothers, Mrs. Cora Wilson and Mrs. Anna Schryver, of Laramie, WY, Mrs. Onie McClendon, of St. Louis,
Missouri; Mrs. Frank Woods of Joplin, Mo., and Mr. E.O. Woods of Salem, Mo.
The deceased was a loving husband, a kind and indulgent father and an upright man.
We believe he was one of the best men we ever knew.
We offer our most sincere condolence to the bereaved relatives.



WORDEN

Eugene Worden, 66, of Weiner, died Saturday afternoon at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation
Center in Jonesboro.  Born in Weiner, he was retired from Riceland Foods in Weiner. He was
a member of the Weiner Baptist Church and the Lions Club and volunteer fireman with the
Weiner Fire Department for 26 years.
Survivors include three brothers, William Worden of Lake Cormorant, MS, Floyd Worden of
Mount Ida and James Worden of Jacksonville; and one sister, Velma Ruegger of Waldenburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10 Tuesday morning at Weiner Baptist Church, with the Rev.
Lendol Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner, under the
direction of Langford's Funeral Service of Jonesboro.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Weiner Fire Department or the Weiner Cemetery
Fund.

Mrs. Sharon Killion Wray, 42, of Jonesboro, died Sunday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg, she was a counter clerk for The Dry Cleaner in Jonesboro.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Wray Jr. of Jonesboro; a son, Paul Masters of Harrisburg;
a daughter, Jennifer Masters of Harrisburg; two sisters, Jeresa Parten of Jonesboro and Rita Barr
of Harrisburg; a brother, Ronnie Branyan of Harrisburg; her grandmother, Lora Mae Caplinger of
Harrisburg; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 Wednesday morning at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home
chapel with Rev. Dwight Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Bolivar Cemetery near
Harrisburg.

John Hodge Yarbro, 49, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday at St. Barnard's Regional Medical Center.
Born and raised in Harrisburg, he was the owner and operator of Med-South Home Services of Jonesboro.
He was an Army veteran, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro and of the ASU Alumni
Association. His parents, John Cade and Juliet Yarbro, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Macel Ann Yarbro of the home; two brothers, Robert Yarbro of Pangburn and Joseph
Yarbro of Paragould; three sisters, Vera Casey and Dorothy Petty of St. Louis, MO and Lois Setzer of Long Beach, MS.
Graveside services will be at 10 Friday morning at the Holly Springs Cemetery with interment following. Rev. Fred
Haustein will officiate. Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 9 this evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to the Holly Spring Cemetery or the
charity of choice.

Christian Gage Yarbro, 5-day-old son of Robert and April Yarbro of Trumann, died Tuesday at
the Children's Hospital in Little Rock, due to heart failure.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dylan Wayne Yarbro and his great-grandfather,
Milford Cossey.
Survivors in addition to his parents include grandparents Ronnie Norman of Michigan and Susan
Norman of Trumann and Wayne and Sherry Elliott of Trumann; great-grandparents Earnestine Dedman,
James Simpson, both of Trumann, Loretta Boguard of Harrisburg, James and Krisian Yarbro of
Osceola and Carolyn Norman of Indiana; seven uncles, Eric Norman, Chris Norman, Billy McCorkle,
Justin Elliot, Allen Elliot, Bryan Elliot, all of Trumann and Ronnie Norman III of Michigan,
one aunt, Buffey McCorkle of Trumann and his god mother, Patricia Ward (Widdy) of Trumann.
Graveside services was held Saturday morning at Tyronza Cemetery, with Gary Andrews officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.

Thomas Earl Yarbrough Jr., 69 of 353 Holly Ave., Trumann, died Tuesday at St. Bernard's
Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Jonesboro, he had lived most of his life in Trumann.
He owned and operated Earl's Supermarket before retiring in 1982.
He was past president of the Trumann Chamber of Commerce and was a former member and past
chairman of the Trumann Housing Authority. He was a member of the St. Francis Lake Association
and was a member of the Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann.
Survivors include his wife Kathlyn Yarbrough of the home; one daughter, Ruth Ann Estes of
Paragould; one son, Tommy Yarbrough of Cherokee Village; two sisters, Nina Whitlatch of Trumann
and Nancy Young of Jonesboro; one brother, Kenneth Yarbrough of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren,
and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one grandson.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with his grandsons,
Jeff Estes and Joe Sprangler officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Myrtle Valley Pearce Young, 99, 105 Hinson Rd., Marked Tree, died Monday at Three
Rivers Nursing Home at Marked Tree.
Born Jan. 10, 1901, in Swifton and lived in Trumann prior to moving to Marked Tree six
years ago. She was a retired teacher for Trumann schools and was a member of the Viva
Drive Church of Christ in Trumann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loice Young, in 1972, and by one sister and two
brothers and was the daughter of the late Henry and Mollie Charlotte Croom Pearce.
Survivors include one son, Terrell Young of Trumann; one brother, Noel Pearce of Sarasota,
FL; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home
of Trumann, with Bill Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in
Jonesboro.
Visitation will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Carl Young, 77, 437 Marcus St., Trumann, will be Wednesday morning at 10 in

Young died Sunday at his home. Born April 13, 1923, in Deer, he had lived in Trumann for 10 years,
and was formerly of California. He was retired missile tester for Aero Jet and was a member of Granite
Bay Baptist Church in California.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers, and he was the son of the late Lee Wright
and Julia Brown Young.
Survivors include his wife, Vera M. Young of the home; two sons, Wayne Young of Harrisburg
and Dennis C. Young of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Judy Lee Paul of Branson, MO; three
brothers, Murriel Young of Tonanoxie, KS, Jim Young of Branson, MO, and Gerald Young of
San Pablo, CA; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
