Mrs. Flora Mae Hall, 58, of Lepanto, died Thursday in Lepanto. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lepanto. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Hall of Lepanto; three daughters, Chris Wiggins, Becky Tyler and Kenni Harris, all of Lepanto; a son, Scott Hall of Lepanto; two sisters, Opal Roach of Evening Shade and Joyce Kelly of Dyess; four brothers, Columbus Carter of Evening Shade, Thomas Carter, Douglas Carter and William Carter, all of Lepanto; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 Sunday afternoon at Murphy Funeral Home chapel in Lepanto, with Greg Dills and Danny Pankey officiating. HALL

David Hall, 75, of 618 Ellis St., Trumann, died Tuesday at his residence. Born at Black Oak, he was a retired millwright for the Singer Company and a 32nd degree Mason with the Trumann Masonic Lodge. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Survivors include his wife, Gerneal Hall of the home; two daughters, Beverly Terry and Wanda Hall, both of Trumann; one son, Dan Hall of Trumann; one grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Homer Lloyd officiating. Masonic graveside services will be at Tyronza Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Trumann Masonic Lodge. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Tessie Halsey, 82, of 412 E. Speedway, Trumann, died Monday at Rose Care Nursing Center in Trulmann of natural causes. Born in Concord, TN, she was a homemaker and a member of the Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann. Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Barnes and Nelldean Bryant, both of Trumann; three sisters, Iris Layne of Trumann, and Margie Sawyers and Earline Greene, both of Memphis; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Halsey I in 1999, four sisters and three brothers and was the daughter of the late Joe C. and Katie White Layne. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Joe Spangler officiating. Burial will be in Monette Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Willie Lawrence "Yogi" Hamilton was born January 20, 1951 in Enid, MS, to Cleopha and Rosetta Hamilton Perry. He departed this life on April 20, 1991 at the age of 40. "Yogi" confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined St. John M.B. Church. He later joined Golden Leaf Baptist Church in Gilmore, under the leadership of Rev. Joe L. Weeden. Survivors include: one son, Curtis "Luke" Williams of Jonesboro; one daughter, LaShonda Hamilton of Earle; his parents, Cleopha and Rosetta Perry of Marked Tree; three brothers, Rufus Hamilton of Earle, Cleo Perry, Jr. of Fayetteville, AR, Cpl. Sunrise 3/8/13 Sunset 5/16/2001 Charlie Hammond was born March 8, 1913 in Bird Song, Arkansas. He was the son of the late Johnnie and Annie Hammond. Charlie accepted Christ at an early age. He was retired from the Singer Furniture Mill in Trumann, Arkansas. Charlie was a good neighbor, and one to love when you got to know him. He is survived by one son Henry Hammond, and his wife Marilyn, One stepson, James Brown one stepdaughter, Bertha (King) Lincoln. He had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Josie L Hammond, his parents, sisters, and brothers. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Judd Hill Cemetery, Judd Hill Arkansas.

John Hampovchan, 91, of Harrisburg, died Friday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in New York, he was a retired truck driver. He was a Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Linnie Mink Hampovchan. No funeral services are planned. The body has been donated to science. John Edward Hannon Jr., 56, of 30546 Stevens Landing Rd., Trumann, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 1999) afternoon in the VA Medical Center in Memphis. Born June 17, 1943 at Cotton Plant, he had lived in Trumann since 1973 and was formerly of Chicago. He has been a machinist for FMC in Jonesboro, a veteran of the United States Navy and was a Protestant. Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Smith of Nashville, TN; four sons, Glenn Hannon of Paragould, Del Hannon of Trumann, Heath Hannon of Brighton, MI, and Wade Hannon of Bellefontaine, OH; his mother, Bertie M. Hannon of Trumann; a stepsister, Betty Dill of Clio, MI; a stepbrother, Bill Hannon of MS; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Hannon Sr. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with Kenneth Hardin officiating. James W. Harbison, 79, of Marked Tree, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps serving in Europe during World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Harbison of the home; two daughters, Brenda Buchholz of Flippin and Sue Bruce of Marked Tree; two sons, Frank Harbison of Marked Tree and Jimmy Harbison of Mountain Home; one sister, Frances Qualls of Harrisburg; one brother, Floyd Harbison of Benton; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bennie Ely Harper, 83, of Belhaven, N.C., died Sunday in North Carolina. Formerly of Harrisburg, he was born in Pine Bluff, Tenn., and was a retired farmer and a Army veteran. Survivors include two sons, Billy Harper of Chattanooga, TN., and Bobby Harper of Belhaven; two daughters, Shirley Harper of Tupelo, MS, and Connie H. Jones of Phoenix, AZ; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude Seaborn Harper; his second wife, Ruth Spencer Harper; three sons; a daughter; two brothers; three sisters and two great-grandchildren. Chloe Grace Harper, 21-day-old daughter of Johnny Paul and Jennifer Ann Harper of Harrisburg, died Thursday at Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Phatie Harris, brother of Mrs. W.C. Overton, Marked Tree, died at Redding, CA, at 1 o'clock last Wednesday afternoon. He was 42. Funeral services were held at LaBelle Baptist Church in Memphis at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. D.M. Renick officiating. Burial was in the Lepanto Cemetery. In addition to Mrs. Overton, Mr. Harris is survived by his father, B.L. Harris, of Memphis; two other sisters, Mrs. Ray Dean of Memphis and Mrs. B.B. Floyd of Sardis, MS; and two brothers, Bill Harris of San Diego, CA, and Wesley Harris of Redding, CA.

J. C. Harris, 70, of Lake City, Route 1, died Wednesday evening in the Methodist Hospital of Jonesboro. He was a retired machinist and was a member of the Lunsford Baptist Church. Mrs. Maggie Rowena Harvey, 94, of Harrisburg, died Monday at the Regional Medical Center of NEA. She was born in Tennessee and was a homemaker and a member of the Dyer County Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Harvey, and by one sister, four brothers and one grandson. Survivors include three sons, John and Sam Harvey, both of Cherry Valley and Nick Harvey of Oakland, TN; two daughters, Mary German of Cherry Valley and Ruby Williams of Harrisburg; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Fred Paul Hatley, 74, of Marked Tree, died Thursday at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. An army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Church of God in Pontiac, MI. He was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audry Hatley of Marked Tree; four sisters, Dude McClesky of West Memphis, Betty Smith of Jonesboro, Shirley Gardner of Stuttgart and Norma Davis of Memphis, TN; four brothers, Bill Hatley and Bob Hatley, both of Pontiac, MI, and Sammy Hatley and Dennis Hatley, both of Marked Tree; and one granddaughter. Joint funeral services for Ricky Noah Haygood, 38, and Gerald Haygood, 46, both formerly of Trumann, were Monday morning at 11 in the chapel of Brantley Funeral Home of Olive Branch, MS. Gerald Haygood was buried in Byhalia Cemetery in MS and Ricky Haygood was buried in Bolivar Cemetery at Harrisburg. The two died Jan. 12 in an automobile accident in Memphis. Ricky Haygood was president of Haygood Tower Co. and was formerly the owner of ABC Tower Co. He was of the Pentecostal belief. Mr. Ricky Haygood is survived by one daughter, Samantha Haygood of Memphis; and three sons, Ricky Haygood Jr. of Memphis, Lucas Ford Haygood of Olive Branch, MS, and Ricky Joe Ford Wilson of Trumann. Gerald Haygood was a maintenance worker. Survivors include his wife, Kathy C. Haygood; three daughters, Sherri Hopkins of Ashland, MS, Elizabeth Haygood and Sami Haygood, both of Olive Branch; one son, Gerald "Jay" Haygood Jr. of Olive Branch, MS; and three grandchildren. Joint survivors include their mother, Mary V. Haygood of Trumann; four sisters, Connie Ward of Southhaven, MI, Brenda Whitman and Suzanne Dobbens, both of Trumann, and Linda Haulcomb of Bellglade, FL; five brothers, Carl Haygood of Berrin Springs, MI, Maral Haygood of Eau Claire, MI, Mack Haygood of Myrtle, MS, David Haygood and Larry Haygood, both of Fairfield, IL. Mrs. Katherine Louise Heard, 72, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Harrisburg, she spent her entire life there. She owned and operated Heards Greenhouses and Nursery for more than 34 years. Survivors include her husband, Leonard G. "Joe" Heard of the home; five sons, Terry Heard and Larry Heard both Jonesboro, Leonard Heard of Brookland, Robert Heard of Trumann and Ronald Heard of Tampa, FL; one sister, Pauline Hoskins of Harrisburg; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Murray Ray and Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Willis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Biggers, Jason Kindler, Michael Sullivan, Shawn Sullivan, Billy Willard and Scott Heard. Visitation will be this afternoon from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home. Leonard G. "Joe" Heard, 80, of Harrisburg died Monday, June 18, at St. Bernard's Medical Center. Heard was born on June 10, 1921 in Decatur, AL. He was the owner and operator of the Heard's Greenhouses and Nursery for more than 34 years and was retired from Singer. He was a member the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Harrisburg. Survivors include five sons, Leonard Heard of Brookland, Robert Heard of Trumann, Ronald Heard of Tampa, FL, and Terry Heard and Larry Heard, both of Jonesboro; four brothers, Richard Heard of St. Louis, MO, James Heard of Park Hill, MO, George Heard of Orange, CA, and Charles Heard of West Helena; three sisters, Thelma Litton and Patsy Gilliam, both of Texas, and Mary Woods of South Carolina; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Louise Heard on August 29, 2000 and two brothers. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Murray Ray and Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Willis Cemetery. Last Wednesday S. J. Heaton, who has been living on the farm of Ed Hammons in the Spear Lake neighborhood, suffered a stroke of apoplexy and passed away at the home of Mr. Hammons in this city. He was born Dec. 17, 1850 in Putnam County, Ohio. He leaves a wife, two children, Mrs. Ida Mae Lackly and Mrs. Mary Shackley of Memphis and one step daughter, Mrs. Mae Fulkes of Paragould. The funeral was conducted by Rev. C. H. Bumpers pastor of the Lepanto Methodist church and interment was had at the Spear Lake cemetery. Mrs. Edna Lee Scull Hemler, 80, Carlsbad, NM, died Saturday at her residence. She was a homemaker. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Jolly Richardson of Germantown, TN; one son, Richard Eugene Jolly of Jacksonville, FL; five sisters, Luella Godwin of Dyess, Imogene Rule of Carlsbad and Leona Griffin, Nora Faye Pitts and Norma Jo Day, all of Marked Tree; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ethel Henderson, 92, 14884 Walnut Grove Lane, Trumann, died Sunday, at the family residence. Mrs. Henderson was born Feb. 14, 1908, in Holcomb, MO and had lived most of her lifetime in the Trumann area. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Henderson who died in 1961; two sons, Warren Henderson and Kenneth Troy Henderson, two grandchildren, one sister, one brother and was the daughter of the late Tom and Gertie Valentine. Mrs. Henderson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nina Waters of Trumann and Mrs. Helen Kay Smith of Bay; one son, Allen Henderson of Trumann; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

HARRISBURG-Gene Henderson, 76, of Harrisburg died Thursday, June 17, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. Born at Manila, he was the former owner of Gene’s Drive-In and Gene’s Restaurant in Harrisburg. He was a member of the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Harrisburg City Council. He also held membership in the Poinsett Masonic Lodge. He was a part owner of Henderson Hauling and served 17 years as the mailer at the Poinsett County Detention Center. He was a member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Birdie Sue Exum Henderson of the home; two sisters, Lela Wright of Harrisburg and Velma Lee Wallace of Lake Village; a son, Calvin Henderson of Harrisburg; and three grandchildren, Stacy Ivy Ashlock, Jake Henderson and Lyndsey Henderson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Jean Ivy; his parents, Elvin L. and Nettie Stricklin Henderson; and two brothers. Mrs. Gertrude Lela Chaffin Hendrix, 81, of Searcy, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in North Little River. Mrs. Hendrix lived most of her life in Trumann area before moving to Searcy four years ago. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Birthday Club, the Happy Home Maker Club and the First United Methodist Church, all of Trumann. Mrs. Hendrix loved gardening, sewing, homemaking and pets. Mrs. Hendrix helped her late husband with the operation of their 160 acre cattle farm and faithfully cared for him as his health faded. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, a telephone operator, and worked for Singer Manufacturing until her retirement. Mrs. Hendrix was a loving mother and a dedicated and faithful wife. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Elmer Hendrix, one son, Howell "Sonny" Forrest Hendrix, seven sisters, six brothers and was the daughter of the late Joe and Ollie Simmons Chaffin. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Hendrix of Searcy and Dennis Edwin Hendrix of Little Rock; one sister, Mrs. L.D. James Glendon "Jim" Henshaw, 53, of Jackson, TN, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at his home. A Harrisburg native, he was a soil conservationist agent and was a member of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson. He was named Outstanding Young Farmer in AR in 1970, and was a Jaycees International senator, a member of Toastmasters and served as chairman of Jackson's Christmas Parade. He was named recipient of former President George Bush's 1000 points of Light award for his work with organ donor awareness. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Henshaw of the home; two daughters, Sharon Schoenberg of Memphis and Glenda Henshaw of Jackson; one stepdaughter, Lisa Hoeckel of TX; one stepson, Jason Winbush of Jackson; his mother, Velva Henshaw of Jackson; one brother, Richard Henshaw of Memphis; two grandchildren and three step grandchildren. He was preceded by death by his father, Jessie Glenn Henshaw, and one sister. Charles Homer Hervey, 73 years of age, died at his home Monday, Sep. 25, after an illness of several months. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Mary Pauline Meridith, one brother, Wayne Douglas Goff and her grandmother, Mrs. Goldie Marie Meridith. Ira Van Hinds, 65, of Olive Branch, MS, formerly of Trumann died Thursday afternoon at his home. He was born in Trumann and spent most of his life there before moving to Olive Branch nine years ago. Van Buren Hinds was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, July 13, 1839, died in Letona, Feb. 10, 1922, at about 5 o'clock p.m., age 82 years 7 months and 2 days. He was united in marriage to Anna Eliza Harris, July 26, 1866, at Remington, Ind. To this union 12 children were born, 7 of whom preceded their father in death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his faithful wife and five children. Mrs. Ella Harris, Letona; David Hinds, Letona; William Hinds and Mrs Hannah Turner, Searcy; Mrs. Pearl Clossen, Letona; also 21 grand children, and two great grand children. Deceased was a faithful follower of God, having joined the Christian church at Remington, Ind., nearly forty years ago. A good and loving father and faithful companion, faithful to his country in her time of need, he was loyal in all things. George Van Buren Hinds, son of Van Buren and A.E. Hinds, died at his home near Searcy, Ark.; April 25th, 1906, and was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Searcy, Ark., on April 27th, 1906. He was 33 years, 7 months and 23 days old, he left a wife and three children, a father, mother, two brothers and three sisters to mourn his untimely death. He was taken sick with congestio at 10 o'clock in the morning and died at 6 in the evening. He was born in Jasper County, Ind; married Miss Sarah E. Green in 1898, at Lawrenceburg, Tenn., by Rev. Beasley, of the M E church, and moved to Arkansas in 1898, where he remained until his death. He was a member of the Christin church for 20 years; was baptized at the age of 13 years at Remington, Ind. He was a loving husband and father, an effectionate son and brother, a devoted christian and beloved by all his friends and acquaintances. Charles Edward Holbrook, 60, of Tyronza, died Friday in an automobile accident on U.S. 63 at Marked Tree. A restaurant owner, he was of the Baptist faith. Jack Holliman, 70, of West Memphis, died Wednesday at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. Born in Arkadelphia, he had lived in Lepanto for approximately 50 years before moving to West Memphis six months ago. He was a retired farmer and a member of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in Tyronza where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Chester Holliman and Ray Holliman. Formerly of Lepanto, she was a homemaker and a member of West Ridge Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Nellie Ruth Vickery of Cherokee Village and Linda Bezzard of Caraway; three sons, L.C. Pilgrim and Bob Pilgrim, both of Lepanto, and Howard Pilgrim of Birmingham, AL; 32 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son. James Vester Holmes, 91, of Memphis, born April 20, 1908, in Boonville, MS, he also lived in the Lepanto area for 54 years, died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. A member of the Lepanto Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Graham of Memphis and Dorothy Noles of Jonesboro; one son, James K. Holmes of Henry, TN; one sister, Flora Grey of Kansas City, MO; one brother, C.T. Holmes of Kansas City; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Audrey Holmes, in 1981. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Robert Holt, and one brother, Robert Rich Mosley and was the daughter of the late Dr. Marion R. and Legal Tender Rich Mosley. Mrs. Pearl Hooker, 83, of Marked Tree, died Saturday at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Marked Tree. She was of the Baptist belief. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver C. Hooker, and by one daughter and one great-granddaughter. Tommy Lewis "Hook" Hooker, 47, 2509 Apache St., Pocahontas, died Sunday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hooker was born Nov. 14, 1952, in Harrisburg, he worked for the city of Pocahontas, was a member of the Five Rivers Auto Club and a member of the Church of God in Walnut Ridge. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Meridith Hooker of the home and a sister, Wanda Sharp of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ivory Thompson Hooker. MRS. HOPPER

Mrs. Hopper Dies Thursday Afternoon. Mrs. Susan "Sudie" Florence Hopper died at her home on Jackson Street Thursday afternoon at 3:25, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Hopper was born in Florence, AL, November 16, 1869 and would have been 94 years of age in November. She was the daughter of John and Frances Upchurch McCulley. The family left Alabama and came to Whitehall when she was 15 years of age, and she has lived in and near this city since that time. Her husband, the late James Hopper, died 23 years ago. She was a member of the Farm Hill Methodist Church for more than three-quarters of a century. At the age of 92, she went to church fifteen nights in succession, without missing a single night. First the revival at Harrisburg Methodist Church and then a revival at Farm Hill Methodist Church. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Mae Bridges, Mrs. Dora Brown, Mrs. Trudy Hopper, all of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Montie Cromwell of St. Louis; a sister Mrs. Hattie Wallace of Harrisburg; a brother, Lonnie McCulley of Waynesburg, MS; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. A large crowd of relatives and fiends attended the funeral services, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Farm Hill Methodist Church, three miles south of Harrisburg. Rev. G.A. McKelvey, pastor of the Harrisburg Methodist Church and Rev. Lon Brewer, pastor of the Cherry Valley Methodist church officiated. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. Interment was in Farm Hill Cemetery with Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Clay Mardis, Rhea Eastin, John Mardis, Eugene Graddy, F.S. Durham, and John Yarbro.

Mrs. Ione Horst, 72, of Fisher, died Thursday at the Regional Medical Center of NEA. She was a homemaker, a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Waldenburg and the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Horst of the home; four daughters, Debbie Jones, Lynn Jones and Kim Dennis, all of Fisher, and Jan Wilkins of Houston, TX; her mother, Ida K. Wofford of Weiner; two sisters, Juanita Gooch of Weiner and Betty Lou Smith of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Katherine Louise Garvey Horton, 75, of Harrisburg and Cape Coral, FL, widow of S. Herman Horton, was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon, April 20th, in a car-pickup collision in Memphis. Born in Parkin September 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Henry T. and Marie Berry Garvey, of Harrisburg and had lived in Cape Coral for twenty-two years. She had served on the North First Bank of Cape Coral Board of Directors, the Hospital Health Authority Board, the Gulf Coast Village Board, and the Administrative Board of the Cape Coral United Methodist Church of which she was a member. She was also a member of the Capital Area Club, the 76 Club, Cape Coral Ex Execs. and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mrs. Horton's late husband was a former member of the Jonesboro law firm of Penix and Horton and later served with the FBI, OSS and CIA. After his retirement from CIA, the family moved to Cape Coral. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Horton Jackson of Cape Coral; a sister, Hazel Garvey Freeman of Harrisburg; a granddaughter, Shannon Horton Buchanan of Colorado Springs CO; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Buchanan; a newphew David Freeman of Atlanta, GA and a niece, Elaine Freeman Nix, of Harrisburg. Funeral services were held at 2:00 Friday afternoon, April 23rd, at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg with Rev. James D. Harrison, pastor, officiating. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann. Survivors include four sons, Franklin W. Howard and Joe H. Howard Jr., both of Trumann, Don Howard of Bay and Thomas W. Howard of St. Louis; one brother, Walton H. Essie Beatrice hull was born on October 31, 1925 to the late Julius and Ella Cleveland, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She moved to Trumann, Arkansas at an early age, where she accepted Christ. Essie remained in Trumann until her health caused her to be moved to Beverly Nursing home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The Lord called her home on March 28, 2002. Essie became a member of the New Rising Sun where she held several positions, but her favorite was on the Mother’s Board where she served faithfully until her health prevented. Essie had no children of her own but she faithfully raised a niece, Dorothy Evans at El Cireto, CA; nephews, Jimmy Ray Thompson and David Thompson of Trumann, AR. She was mom to them all. Mrs. Newt Hunt Dies Wednesday Night Mrs. Mattie Belle Hunt, of this city, wife of John Newt Hunt, died at 7:50 Wednesday morning, April 27 at the Jonesboro Hospital. Mrs. Hunt suffered a stroke on Saturday, April 23rd. Mrs. Hunt was born in Harrisburg, December 24, 1901 and was 53 years of age. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, John Newt Hunt of Harrisburg; her mother, Mrs. Hannah E. Carter of Harrisburg; three sons, Jessie Thompson of Pohokee, FL, Charles Thompson of Memphis, TN, Guy Thompson of Cottage Grove, OR; one step-son, J.R. Hunt of the U.S. Navy in Guam; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Thomas of Michigan City, IN, and Mrs. Milton Chavers of Harrisburg; one step daughter, Mrs. G.W. Mills of Harrisburg; two brothers, jack Lowe of Harrisburg and Sam Lowe of Marion, IN; one sister, Mrs. W. D. Gresham of Lindsey, Calif.; and eleven grandchildren. Also a son, Lonnie Hunt and a daughter, Mrs. Francis Slaton. Raymond Huskey, 76, of Trumann, died Wednesday at the Regional Medical Center of NEA. A Baptist, he operated Huskey's Grocery in Trumann for 35 years. He was an Army Engineers veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Huskey of the home; one son, Bobby Huskey of Trumann; three daughters, Evelyn Mitchusson of Jonesboro, Jane Furnish of Trumann and Lori Bunch of Colquitt, GA; one brother, Monroe Huskey of Saffell; three sisters, Verna Ballard of Arizona, Florene Harris and Devone Northcutt, both of Strawberry; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Teresa Jean Ivy, 53, of Harrisburg, died Monday morning June 7, 2004, at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg. Mrs. Ivy was born august 20, 1950 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Gene Henderson and Birdie Sue Exum Henderson. She was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg. After graduating from Harrisburg High School she complete two years of Business College. She was a homemaker and a former teller for the Bank of Harrisburg. She married Ronnie Ivy on October 3, 1970 and they enjoyed 33 years together. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Ivy of Harrisburg; her parents, Gene and Birdie Sue Henderson of Harrisburg; one daughter, Stacy Ivy Ashblock and her husband Jonathan of Little Rock; one brother, Calvin Henderson and his wife, Kim of Harrisburg; one niece, Lyndsey Henderson of Jonesboro; and one nephew, Jake Henderson of Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg, with Rev. John Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Larry Parks, Sherman Drum, Mitchell Drum, Dustin Faulkner, Robert Bland and Jake Henderson. Mrs. Ethel Jackson, 94, of Lepanto, died Sunday at her residence. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lepanto and had lived in the Poinsett County community for 35 years. Survivors include three daughters, Reba Ham of Memphis, Ruth Oldfield of Jacksonville and Sue Bourland of East Prairie, MO; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evert Jackson, and by seven brothers and one sister. Funeral services have been scheduled for this afternoon at 12:30 at the Murphy Funeral Home chapel in Lepanto, with Greg Dills officiating. Burial will follow in Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto. Jesse Tilmon James, 86, of 115 Brigance, Marked Tree, died Thursday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. He had lived in Northeast Arkansas for 58 years, 25 of those years in Marked Tree. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marked Tree and was a retired cotton planter. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Ada James of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Laura Privett of Coloma, MI, Mrs. Mary Tull of Bethel Springs, TN, and Mrs. Virginia Boyd of Campbell, MO; one son, Edward James of Garland, TX; one sister, Mrs. Laura Dycus of Arbyrd, MO, and one brother, Rev. Mary Ada Woods James was born April 9, 1904 in Paducah, KY to James William Woods and his wife, Alberta Virginia Neff. Mary Ada married Jesse T. James April 1, 1923 in Blytheville, AR. They made their first home in Caruthersville, MO, later moving to Weona, AR. Mary Ada spent 64 years in Poinsett Co., AR. She moved to Campbell, MO in 1991. Mrs. James died Tuesday, January 29. 2002 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott,AR. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1986, son, Edward T. James, sisters, Lena Woods Holt, Frances Catharine Woods Pierce, brothers, Virgil Neff Woods, Louis Henry Woods and Franklin Woods. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Privett in 1957. She leaves three daughters, Laura Mae Privett of Coloma, MI, Mary Frances Tull of Bethel Springs, TN, and Virginia Boyd of Campbell, MO. Additionally she leaves 16 grandchildren and 50 great- grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. James was a homemaker, a member of Marked Tree, AR First United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and a favorite cook for the Marked Tree Rotary Club. Her funeral was Friday February 1, 2002 at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, MO with graveside service and interment at Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree, AR.

Born April 21, 1928, in Guy, had worked as a millwright for the Singer Corp. and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Rita Rae Holmes Johnson, 63, of Springdale, died Tuesday at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. Mrs. Johnson was born in Memphis and was a graduate of Springdale HS and a past president of the Springdale Jaycees. She served as a registrar at Central Jr. High for a number of years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was an employee of the First Baptist Church in Springdale for 23 years and a secretary for the Mission Northwest Arkansas of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Mitchell Lee Johnson of Springdale; two daughters, Kim Ranae Muse of Trumann, and Kay Rachelle Bowman of Springdale; her father and stepmother, Ray Mitchell and Martha Holmes of Trumann; two sisters, Dorothy Holmes Beckner of Trumann and Betty Holmes Wess of Harrisburg; a stepsister, Diane Thomas of Orange, CA and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Birdie May McCulley Jones, 74, of 935 Mary Street, Poplar Bluff, MO, died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, April 16, 1971, in Poplar Bluff Hospital after a two-month long illness. Jones, whom she wed August 13, 1916, is also a native of Harrisburg and they made their home here until the middle thirties, moving to Illinois and later to Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Baptist Church, of the Royal Neighbors and the Gideon Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Jim W. A graduate of Harding College in Searcy, she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the Arkansas Education Association, the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and the Poinsett County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. She served on the church board and was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Progressive Century Club. Survivors include one son, James F. Jones of Ballinger, TX; one daughter, Jo Carol Caughron of Harrisburg; one brother, Frankie Fitch of Hindsville; one sister, Dana Washburn of South Padre, TX; and 10 grandchildren. Joyner who died June 29, 1964, and she had lived in Whitehall 64 years moving there from Florence, Ala. where she was born. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Eva J. Dean of Little Rock; two brothers, L.A. Myrick of KY and T.E. Myrick of St. Joseph, Tenn., and one sister, Mrs. Myra Yeastman of Florence, Ala. Glenn Kerr Jr., 75, of McCrory, formerly of Harrisburg, died Thursday at the Woodruff County Nursing Home in McCrory. Born at Patterson, he was principal at Harrisburg Elementary School from 1962 until 1981. He was a graduate of Arkansas College (now Lyon College) in Batesville, received a master's degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, was a World War II Navy veteran and was of the Baptist belief. Survivors include three sons, William Glenn "Bill" Kerr III of Midland, TX, John Mark Kerr of San Angelo, TX, and Eric Kerr with the Navy; two daughters, Carol Conner of San Antonio, TX, and Janet Bantel of Little Rock; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Pulley Kerr and a brother. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Evie L. Key, 95, of Marked Tree, died Thursday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Lexington, MS, she lived in Marked Tree for 23 years, relocating from Lepanto. She was a member of the First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church of Marked Tree where she had been president of the Mothers' Board. Survivors include two sons, James Walls of Omaha, NB, and Clarance Beamer of Lancaster, PA; one daughter, Minnie Johnson of Marked Tree; two sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Cruger, MS, and Mary Weatherall of Picaune, MS; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Key, and a son. Funeral services will be at 1 Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree, with the Rev. S.L. Scott officiating. Mrs. Katherine Kinard, 56, of Fisher, AR passed away Sunday, April 16, 2004 at her home in Fisher. Mrs. Kinard was born August 7, 1947, in Jackson County, AR, the daughter of Fred White and Ruby Mae Butler White. She was a life time resident of Fisher and a member of the Church of God in Fisher. She loved to fish and garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. Mr. J.E. Kirby, 101, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Harrisburg. Mr. Kirby was born November 18, 1902 in Rector, Arkansas, the son of Charles Woodson and Delia Ann Spencer Kirby. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bolivar Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Pate Kirby, one infant son, one brother, A.J. Kirby; one sister, Essie Mae Kain; and three grandchildren, Sarah Louise Kirby, Elizabeth Marie Kirby, and Marlin E. Kirby, Jr. Survivors include two sons, Marvin A. Kirby and Marlin E. Kirby both of Harrisburg; one daughter, Sylvia Dail of Harrisburg; one brother, T.E. Kirby of Bonham, TX; thirteen grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He worked in sales and marketing in the wholesale food industry. He had served in the Air Force and National Guard. He was active in both the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Lamb of Jonesboro; one son, Robert Stanley Lamb of Jonesboro; one daughter, Susan Marie Lamb Cole of Jonesboro; two brothers, John T. Survivors include one son, Robert "Bobby" Allen Lamb of Harrisburg; two daughters, Nancy Grayson Parker of Harrisburg and Linda Lynn Collier of Fredericksburg, VA; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vera Lee was born March 20, 1905 to the union of Mr. Archie Washington and Miss Fannie Hill. She confessed Christ in 1915 in Memphis, Tennessee later moved to Nodena, Arkansas and united with the St. John Church of Butler Arkansas where she was a choir member. She later moved to Driver Arkansas where she united with the Eagle Right M.B. Church. She also moved to Gilmore Arkansas where she united with the Pilgrim Rest Church where she served on the Mother board and was the Treasurer. Later she united with New Bethel Church where she served on the Mother Board. In 1948 she moved to Judd Hill and United with the Mt. Zion church where she served on the Mother Board and president of the Pastor’s Aid society. On February 15, 1934 she married Mr. Fitzhugh T. Lee. On Thursday, January 23, 1992 at 4:40 a.m. she departed this life at Three Rivers Nursing Center, Marked Tree Arkansas. She leaves to mourn her passing a loving faithful husband Mr. Fitzhugh Lee, One sister Mrs. Mae F. Harvey at Three Rivers Nursing Center, Marked Tree Ark, One step-son Mr. Allen W. Fitzhugh T. Lee Funeral services for the late Fitzhugh T. (F.T.) Lee Saturday June 24, 1995 1:00 p.m. New Rising Sun Baptist Church Trumann, AR. Bro. Fitzhugh T. Lee was born on November 15, 1908 in Mount Olive, Mississippi. At an early age, Bro. Lee turned his life over to Christ, joining the Mt. Pleasant CME Church in Mount Olive, MS. Later in his life after converting to the Baptist faith, he joined the St. Mary’s Baptist church in Pelo, MS. An ambitious young man, Bro. Lee attended Alcorn State College, graduating with a degree in agriculture. After moving to the Trumann area in 1948 and settling on the Judd Hill Plantation, Bro. Lee joined the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served in the positions of Deacon, Treasurer, and Superintendent of Sunday school. At the time of his death, he was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro, AR. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Washington Lee in January 1992, after 58 years of marriage. He is survived by one son, Allen Wendell Lee of East St.Louis, Illinois, a grandson and granddaughters of East St. Louis. Two nieces Bernice Tate and Flora Lee, a nephew John Allen Lee of Chicago, Illinois a host of other relatives and numerous friends of the Trumann area are left in mourning. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Judd Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Irisy Lenar, 47, of Marked Tree, died Tuesday at her home. Born in Turrell, she had lived in Marked Tree for 40 years. She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Marked Tree, where she served as an usher. Survivors include one son, Frederick Lenar of Jonesboro; four sisters, Daisy Wilson and Dolly Shockley, both of Marked Tree, Minnie Holly of Detroit, MI, and Annie Wallace of Jonesboro; five brothers, Johnnie Risper of Marked Tree, Percy Watkins of Bassett, Willie Watkins of Jonesboro, GA, C.L. Mrs. Pauline Lenard, 79, of Wynne, died Saturday at her home. Born in Waldenburg, she was a homemaker who spent most of her life in Cross County. She was formerly of Hickory Ridge and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Wynne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie B. Lenard, in 1984; and by a daughter. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Pauline Jackson of Millington, TN, Lonetta Rutherford of West Memphis and Millie Lace of Wynne; a brother, Danny Roberts of Southaven, MS; a sister, Elnora Drane of Memphis; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Robert Lewis, 66, of Marked Tree, died Monday at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Marked Tree. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a waiter and was of the Catholic faith. Graveside services for Mrs. Earnestine Lincoln, 85, of 539 Woodland, Trumann, who died Aug. 25 at the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro of natural causes, will be held at 11 this morning at Judd Hill Cemetery near Trumann, with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Born in Pine Bluff, she had lived in the Trumann area since 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Church. There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Lincoln and was the daughter of the late Benny and Mandy Munn Stallion. Mrs. Bessie Lee Stephens Lindley, of Bono, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at the family residence. She was 84 years old.      (CHART) Mrs. Lindley was born in Trumann, Feb. 10, 1916. She was a homemaker and lived in the Trumann-Jonesboro areas most of her life with the exception of 18 years in California. She was a member of the Westvale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther O. and Maude Lee Gunter Stephens, one daughter, Doris June Lindley and four sisters, Lessie Byard, Geneva Foster, Maggie Kagen and Quejitte M. Jones. Mrs. Lindley is survived by her husband, John E. Lindley of the home; two sons, M. Douglas Lindley of Dallas, OR and Gary Lindley of Concord, CA; seven daughters, Donna V. Eldridge of Jonesboro, Linda K. Templeton of Warner Springs, CA, Joan Lee Haring of Dallas, OR, Joyce M. Getchell of Nikiski, AK, Karen S. Haynes of Copperopolis, CA, Gail R. Maxwell of Bono and Sheila M. McGinnis of Jonesboro; one brother, Luther O. Stephens Jr. of Mt. Mrs. Patsy Camille Johnson Lindsey, 103 Flossie Drive, Trumann, 70, born Sep. 11, 1929 at Trumann, died Thursday (1-13-2000) at the family residence in Trumann. A lifetime resident of Trumann, she attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She was a substitute teacher in the Trumann school system for a number of years and was the middle school secretary to the principal. She was a past president of the Century Arts and Civics Club, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Trumann and served as co-chairman for the establishment of the Trumann Museum. She was preceded in death by her in death by her parents, James Holman Johnson and Ruth Geneva Higgs Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Al Lindsey of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Henley of Trumann and Kim Hastings of Little Rock; two sons, Robert Lindsey of Sherwood and Tommy Lindsey of Trumann; one sister, Martha Ellen Howell of Van Buren and six grandchildren.
