ADAMS

David E. Adams, 76, of Harrisburg, died Sunday at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. Born in Lake City, he was a retired watchman, a member of the Poinsett Masonic Lodge No. 184 of Harrisburg, and a World War II veteran. He was of the Baptist belief. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Lee Hunt Adams of the home, two daughters, Macel Ann Yarbro of Jonesboro and Cindy Jane McArthur of Harrisburg; three brothers, Jessye T. Adams of Harrisburg, Corbett A. Adams of Poughkeepsie and Donald Mack Adams of Humbolt, TN; one sister, Lucille Puryear of Trumann, and one granddaughter. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held at 10 this morning in the Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Cecil Parker officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.

ADAMS

Billy Charles Adams, 3273 Hwy 69 South, died Monday morning, Oct. 4, 1999 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was 70 years old. Mr. Adams was born March 8, 1929, and was a lifetime resident of Trumann. He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office and a veteran of the USAF serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Men, Air Force Sergeants Assoc., Rural Carrier Assoc. and past board member of the Trumann County Club. He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and was the son of the late Herbert D. and Nettie Burgess Adams. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Doris Pulley Adams of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Vicki McClung of Trumann, Mrs. Lisa Lloyd of Cordova, TN and Mrs. Beth Taylor of Trumann; one sister, Mrs. Guiula Flannigan of Harrisburg; two brothers, Grant Adams and Bobby Adams of Trumann and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Trumann with Rev. Pat Sims and Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro. Pallbearers are Matt Morrison, Michael Morrison, David Pulley, Tim Pulley, Brad Flippo, Steve Adams, Alan Adams and Tommy Coin. Honoray pallbearers are Gary Smith, Dennis Penter, J.P. Penter, Henry Wilson, Wilburn Cole, Methodist Men and employees of the Trumann Post Office. The family asks those wishing to leave a lasting memorial to condider the First United Methodist Church in Trumann and the Trumann School Alumni Association.

MRS. ADAMS

Mrs. Mildred Loutisha Adams, 70, of Marked Tree, died Tuesday at her home. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Troy Adams of the home; five sons, Gale Adams, Danny Adams, Dennis Adams, Mike Adams and Glynn Adams, all of Marked Tree; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree, with Ron Loving officiating. Burial will be in the Potter Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto. Active pallbearers will be Bill Craft, Larry Teague, Bill Henderson, Jerry Carter, Ricky Strange and Gary Woods. Honorary pallbearers include Wayne Hillis and Eric McGuire.

James Estes Alcorn Funeral services for the late James Estes Alcorn, 75, will be Saturday January 25, 1992 at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Trumann, AR. Rev J. I wells, Rev L.H. Hood & Rev J. Lockhart will be officiating. James Estes Alcorn 75, born November 20, 1916 died January 21,1992 at 3:40 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro AR. Born in Augusta AR had had lived most of his lifetime in the Trumann area. He was a retired farmer an a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Judd Hill were he was a deacon and usher and served on many boards until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Meade Alcorn in 1981; one daughter, Mrs. Lunia Bass in 1985 and he was the son of the late Emanuel and Annie Bell (Eins) Alcorn. Mr. Alcorn is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Reed & Mrs.Tillie Holliman of Omaha, Neb. Mrs. Josephine Laird of Nashville, TN, Mrs. Earsie Alcorn-deFeliz of Trumann AR. Six sons James W Alcorn Jr. & Billy Joe Alcorn of Omaha, Neb. Freddie Lee Alcorn of Council Bluff Iowa, Jerry & Terry Alcorn both of Trumann, AR and Eddie Anthony Alcorn of Jonesboro AR. Four sisters Mrs. Dorothy Alcorn of Newport AR, Mrs. Earsie Lee Hill of Thermal Calif., Mrs. Sarah Jane Miller of Augusta AR & Mrs. Lulla Mae Cornelious of Lake City AR. Two brothers Nathaniel Alcorn of Kansas City MO, Emanuel alcorn Jr. of Waukegan ILL. Services under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home and burial at Judd Hill Cemetery.


MRS. ALDRIDGE

Mrs. Sallie (Carter) Aldridge died April 18, 1949. Mrs. Aldridge died Monday at the Sanitorium in Booneville, AR, where she had been for the past several Weeks. Funeral services were held in Tyronza, AR, at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Mrs. Sallie Aldridge, wife of Cpl. Malcolm Aldridge, Jr. of Earle who is stationed at Camp Chaffee, Fort Smith. Holt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Tyronza Cemetery.

MRS. ALLEN   

(The Jonesboro Sun, 9-20-2000; Trumann Democrat, 9-27-2000)

Mrs. Inez Allen, 82, of Bullhead City, AZ, died Sept. 8. Formerly of Trumann and a 1936 graduate from Trumann high school. Mrs. Allen had been a resident of Bullhead City for 15 years, moving there from Southern California with her husband following his retirement. She was a homemaker. Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Trumann, she is survided by her husband, Bert Allen; a daughter, Karen Gentz of Bullhead City; a son, Barry Allen of Bullhead City; three sisters, Leona Brock, Emma Adams and Myrtle Martin, all of Trumann; one granddaughter, Stephanie Wells; and two great- grandchildren, David and Seina Wells, all of Castaic, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Melissa Richards; a brother, Floyd Richards and three sisters, Alma Ballard, Lorene Richards and Irene Edwards. The body was cremated. Dimond and Sons Silver Bell Chapel in Bullhead City, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial service is to be scheduled later this month. The family requests that persons wishing to leave lasting memorials consider the American Lung Association.

ALLEN

Vickie Rae Allen, 52, of Trumann, died Thursday evening, March 8, at the family residence in Trumann, of natural causes. Allen was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She contacted encephalitis at the age of nine months and was cared for in her home by her parents. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elizabeth Prichard. Survivors include her parents, Harold D. and Edith Prichard Allen of the home; three sisters, Beverly Allen Ward of Jonesboro, Darlene Allen Avery of Bay and Gail Allen Brooks of Trumann, and one brother, Steven Allen Poyner of Sunrise, FL. The funeral services was held Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Jim Watts and Dennis Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery at Jonesboro. Active pallbearers were Phil Cullison, Steve Stoker, Keumel Camp and Wade Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Franklin D. Prichard, Sr., Fres Paxton, Brisco Coots, Harles Reese, Roger Boling, Leon Stevens, Dr. Scott Stubblefield and Dr. James Robinette.

MRS. ALLRED

Mrs. Ida Allred, 91, of Marion, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 1999) at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. She was a member of Barton Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Predith King and Patsy Smith, both of Quitman, and Peggy Smith of Marion; one son, Bobby Allred of Searcy; one sister, Jewell Modlin of Portageville, MO; 30 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Allred, and by one son, one brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 this afternoon at the Murphy Funeral Home chapel in Marked Tree, with Frank Bufford officiating. Burial will follow in Tyronza Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Allred, Tommy Allred, Sandy Allred, Paul Smith, Richard Smith, Randall Mott, and Jamie Mott.

ANDERSON

Oscar Anderson, 74, of 203 Jefferson, Marked Tree, died Monday (1-10-2000) at the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. He had lived in Marked Tree for 39 years, having moved there from Birdsong. A Baptist, he was retired a carpenter and an Army veteran. Survivor include his wife, Norma Jean Anderson of Detroit, MI; four sons, Bruce Anderson of Miami, FL, Willie Anderson of Chicago, IL, Eric Anderson and Jimmie Anderson, both of Detroit; four daughters, Kathie Coates of Milwaukee, WI, Vivian Anderson of Detroit, Jacqueline Harris of Birdsong and Peggy Lee Anderson of Cleveland, MS; one brother, Lawrence Anderson of Jonesboro; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11 at First Baptist Church on Kitchen in Jonesboro, with Rev. Herman Lewellen officiating. Burial will be at the Gilfield Cemetery in Birdsong. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 4 until that evening at Sims-Woodard Funeral Service in Marked Tree.

MRS. ANDERSON

Mrs. Bessie Anderson, 84, died Friday at Beverly Health Care Center in Jonesboro. She was a longtime resident of Memphis prior to moving to Bay. She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Memphis where she was chairman of the Mother Board. Survivors include one sister, Lottie Brown of Bay and one brother, Mozell Brown of Trumann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Anderson. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 1 at the New Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church in Trumann. Burial will be at the Tulot Cemetery. Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree has charge of arrangements.

ATKINS

EARLE PIONEER RESIDENT DIED IN PINE BLUFF Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Holt Funeral Home for Mr. Henry Atkins, age 88, a pioneer of this community. Joe Sullivan afficiated. Mr. Atkins died early Friday morning at Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff. He had been in ill health for time. Burial was in Farm Hill Cemetery near Harrisburg. Pallbearers were Malcolm Harris, Wilbur Harris, Tom Cloar, Charlie Cloar, Willard Layton, Lewis Swindle and C.V. Vaughn. He is survived by two sons, Odie and Jimmy Atkins; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Atkins and Mrs. Lilly Williams of Earle and Mrs. Oma Matthews of Archer City, Texas.

ATKINS

T.J. ATKINS DIED IN FORREST CITY CLINIC Thomas Jefferson Atkins, on of Earle's pioneer citizens and substantial farmers, died Monday mornig at 5:30 o'clock in the Forrest City Hospial. He was 62. Mr. Atkins was born in Hopkins County, TX on Sep. 13, 1887. He came to this community when a young man and has been farming 5 miles north of Earle for the past 48 years. He has been in failing health for the past three years, but has displayed the spirit of the pioneer by looking after his farming interests and not giving up. Funeral services were held at the Earle Baptist Church Tuesday morning with Rev. Joe Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the Farm Hill Cemetery at Harrisburg. He is survived by his father, H.A. Atkins, 85 years of age, his wife, Wilma Burns Atkins, three daughters; Bettte and Hazel and Mrs. John J. Mickabee, two brother; Jimmy and Odie Atkins, three sisters; Mrs. Nellie Atkins, Mrs. Claude Williams of West Memphis and Oma Matthews of Archer City, TX. Pallbearers were Lewis Swindle, Jerome Hood, Tom Cloar, Aubrey Lancaster, James Terry and Watt Campbell. Holt Funeral Home was in charge.

AUSTIN

Arthur Austin, 80, of Memphis, died Wednesday (2-16-2000)at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis. He was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy J. Austin of Memphis; a daughter, Susie Earnheart of Memphis; a son, Arthur L. Austin Sr. of Memphis; a sister, Frances Steele of Harrisburg, and four grandchildren. Funeral services have been scheduled for 3:30 this afternoon at the First Assembly of God in Harrisburg. Burial will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Forest Hill East Funeral Home of Memphis.

William Baker, 71, 168 Sneed St., Marked Tree, died Sunday (2-20-2000) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a retired farmer. Born March 6, 1928 in McNairy Co., TN. Preceding him in death were one son, his mother and father, one brother, two sisters and one great-grandchild. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Drager of Houston, TX, Linda Allison of Marked Tree and Deena Brodell of Jonesboro; four sisters, Louise Victory, Bernice Blann and Shirley Brownlee, all of Memphis, and Lillie May Piercy of Monette; one brother, Jerry Wayne Baker of Williford; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 at Murphy Funeral Home chapel in Marked Tree, with William Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery. Mrs. Euvene Barker, 61, of Jonesboro, died Thursday (1-13-2000) at Rose Care Center in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief. She had lived in Trumann for most of her life before moving to Jonesboro three years ago. Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Pierce of Brookland; four brothers, Fred Barker and Monzo Barker, both of Trumann, Bobby Barker of Hot Springs and Harold Barker of Bay; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one grandson. Graveside services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 at Keller's Chapel Cemetery. Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1 until 2 at Keller's Chapel Cemetery.

John Darren Barker, 32, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday (3-14-2000) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Newport, he was a tree trimmer for Asplundh Tree Service. He attended the First Assembly of God in Harrisburg. Survivors include his wife, Janice Barker of the home; one daughter, Tosha Barker of the home; his father and stepmother, Jimmy Don and Susan Barker of Fisher; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Danny Kemp of Harrisburg; two brothers, Cary Barker of Wynne and Joshua Barker of Fisher; two stepbrothers, Gary Kemp and Charles Kemp, both of Trumann; one sister, Pamela Barker of Harrisburg, and his grandmothers, Bertha Anschultz of Fisher and Margie Barker of McCrory. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with Jim Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Fisher Cemetery. Joseph Edward "Joey" Barnes, 39, of 141 Jennifer St., Trumann, died Tuesday (3-14-2000) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was a tool setter for Parker Hanifin Corp. in Trumann and was of the Pentecostal belief. Mr. Barnes was born July 8, 1960 and lived most of his live in Trumann, he lived in Indiana before returning to Trumann. He was preceded in death by his father, Elic Edward "Ed" Barnes in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lisa Davis Barnes of the home; five daughters, Brdgett Harvey of Jonesboro, Crystal Berry of Lowery, Brandy Hervey of the home, Stacy Hargrove of Lepanto and Misty Barnes of Marion; two sons, Timmy Hervey of Trumann and Joseph C. Barnes of Marion; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Clyde Graves of Osceola, IN; two sisters, Sherry LaPiro and Beverly Clem, both of Trumann; one stepsister, Donna Maggart of Osceola, IN; two stepbrothers, Clyde Graves Jr. of Elkhart, IN and Timmy Graves of Osceola, IN; his grandmother, Mary Barnes of Trumann; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with Steve Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Harrisburg. MRS. BARNHILL

Mrs. Ruby Fay Barnhill, 46, of Marked Tree, formerly of Harrisburg, died Thursday night in St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born in Marked Tree, was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal belief. She was preceded in death by her parents, two half brothers and a sister. Surviving are one son, Kenny Barnhill of the home; one brother, Johnny Oldman of Bay; a half brother, Bill Wilson of Mississippi; four sisters, Glenda Oliver of Dowagiac, MI, Brenda Cantrell of Harrisburg, Tammy Oldman of Harrisburg and Carolyn Cleveland of Gainesville, FL. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with Rev. Glen Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg. Active pallbearers will include Cecil Wright, John Willis, Bobby Willis, Mark Oldman, Chris Tacker and Charles Cantrell. Ricky Dunn and Chris Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.

BASS
Rev. Fred Ted Bass, 76 of Trumann AR, born March 4,1911 departed this life October 29, 1987 at Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro AR. Rev Bass was born in Arkansas and had lived in the Trumann area since 1935. He was a retired farmer and minister and a member of the Rising sun Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mable Denwood Bass of the home, five sons, Maynard Lee Bass, R. B Bass, Lorenzo Bass, Fred Bass Jr. Elijah Bass all of Omaha Neb. Three daughters Mrs. Addie Washington of Benton Harbor, Mich., Mrs. Dellie Johnson of south Bend, Ind. and Mrs. Doris Prunty of Trumann AR. One brother Curtis Bass of Little Rock AR, and One sister Mrs. Derotha Williams of Omaha, Neb. 51 grandchildren and a host of great grand children. Funeral Services will be Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Judd Hill, AR with Rev. J.I. Wells officiating. Burial will be at the Judd Hill Cemetery, Judd Hill AR.


BEESON

Herman H. Beeson, 89, of Harrisburg, died Monday evening at his residence. Born at Ozark, he was a retired carpenter and a member of the Harrisburg Church of Christ where he had served as an elder for 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Bernice McDaniel Beeson of the home; six sons, Jan Beeson and Mike Beeson, both of Jonesboro, Carroll Beeson of Bentonville, Bill Beeson of Nashville, TN, Darrell Beeson of Terry, MS, and Gary Beeson of Mountain Home; one daughter, Sharon Pugh of New Martinsville, WVA; one sister, Addie Harris of Ft. Smith; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2 Thursday afternoon at the Harrisburg Church of Christ with Bill Willard, Bob McDoniel and Charles Pugh III officiating. Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Lue Beard, 90, of Lepanto, who died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola, will be held at 2:30 this afternoon at First Baptist Church in Lepanto, with the Rev. Larry Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Rest Cemetery at Lepanto, under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Tyronza. Born Feb. 20, 1910, in Aberdeen, MS., she was a maid and a member of First Baptist Church in Lepanto and the Mother Board. Survivors include one daughter, Matra Estes of Trumann; three sons, Leroy Beard of San Diego, CA, Curley Beard Jr. of Lepanto, and Willie Beard of Detroit, MI; one sister, Mary Loyd of Lepanto; 20 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curley Beard Sr.

MRS. BECK
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Inez Beck Thursday October 13, 1994 12:00 noon at the New Rising Sun Baptist Church Trumann, AR. Rev Frank Lockhart, officiating. Anna Inez Beck was born November 2, 1911 in Webster County, Mississippi. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She moved to Arkansas in 1942. She was married to the late Ferdy Beck. One son Willie preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving son, Robert Bell; two sisters, Jewel Parks of Memphis, Tennessee, Novella Conley of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, dear friends Bertha Mason, Booker Childs of Trumann, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. MRS. BELL

Mrs. Lucy Bell, 82, of 114 Hines Circle, Marked Tree, died Friday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Shelby, MS, she had lived in Marked Tree for 25 years after relocating there from Tyronza. A homemaker, she was a member of Mt. Pisby Missionary Baptist Church of Joiner. Survivors include two brothers, William Bell Jr. of Santa Ana, CA, and Larrie Bell Sr. of Blytheville; and five sisters, Julia Johnson, Maggie Bell and Matilda Carter, all of Chicago, IL, Jean Sewell of Memphis and Scarlett Walls of West Memphis. A.A. "Lon" Berry Jr., 85, of 1611 Briarcliff, Fayetteville, formerly of Harrisburg, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville after sustaining a heart attack at his home a week earlier. Born in Harrisburg January 30, 1907, he was the last of seven children of the late Dr. Alonzo Alexander Sr., and Flora Maude Stout Berry, early settlers of Cross and Poinsett County. He was a lnad owner and a retired businessman. At the time of his retirement in 1970, he owned and operated an automobile parts store in Harrisburg, where he served the public for fifty years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Fayetteville, a member of Poinsett County Masonic Lodge 184, and a 32nd Degree Mason. An Army veteran of World War II, he was also a member of American Legion C.C. Hill Post 14. Berry is survived by his wife, the former Mary Lois Wright of Trumann, to whom he was married in Harrisburg May 14, 1939 by the late Rev. J.J. Decker. The couple lived in Harrisburg util moving to Fayetteville ten years ago. Also surviving are a son, Allen Wright Berry of Sherwood; a daughter, Marilyn Berry McCord of Fayetteville and four grandchildren, Gregory Allen Berry, Emily Marie Berry, Susan Elizabeth McCord and Karen Melissa McCord. The deceased brothers and sisters include Millard Filmore Berry, Allen Berry, Fred Berry, Bessie Conn Griffin, Marie Garvey and Ione Goodman. MRS. ZONA S. BERRY Mrs. Zona "Billye" Shelton Berry, 91, of 202 West Reiverside Drive, Marked Tree, died at her home Friday evening, July 18, 1997. Mrs. Berry was the widow of Fred Berry, who died September 3, 1983, and the daughter of the late W.D. "Billy" Shelton, former Poinsett County Sheriff, and the late Eva Neely Shelton. Bron in Marked Tree, January 5, 1906, she had lived in the Marked Tree and Harrisburg area all of her life. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1924 and attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia. She was of the Methodist belief and was one of the charter members of the Harrisburg Birthday Club that was organized more than 50 years ago. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim Shelton Berry and Melba Moore Berry of Marked Tree; and one grandson, of Yale University in New Haven, CT. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Marked Tree at 2:00 Sunday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. Rex A. Dickey, officiating. She was raised in Trumann, Arkansas as a child and lived in Harrisburg until 1982 when she and her late husband moved Fayetteville to be close to their daughter and her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisburg then the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg and Trinity United Methodist Church in Fayetteville at the time of her death. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, A.A. "Lon" Berry and her parents, J. Lee and Emma Wright and two brothers Arlen and Bill Wright. Survivors include a son, Allen Wright Berry of Sherwood, a daughter, Marilyn Berry McCord of Fayetteville, a daughter-in-law Cathy Berry, a son-in-law, Jim McCord, four grandchildrend, Greg Berry, Emily Berry Taylor, Susan McCord Clary and Karen McCord, a granddaughter-in-law, Tamera, a grandson-in-law, Joe Allen Taylor, Jr., a great grandson, Joey Taylor, a niece and special friend, Hazel Freeman of Harrisburg, and many other firiends. Mrs. Mary Ordeen Bradsher, 75, of Trumann, died Wednesday (2-23-2000) at Rose Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro. Mrs. Bradsher was born in Baldwyn, MS, Nov. 25, 1924, to the late Bill & Lilly Davis McAnally. She had lived in Trumann most of her life and was retired from the Singer Co. in Trumann. She was a member of the County Line Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, Wally Bradsher of Trumann, Kerry Bradsher of Harrisburg and Tommy Bradsher of Tupelo, MS; one sister, Marie Barrett of Bay; one brother, Bill McAnally of Excelsior Springs, MO; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. "Buddy" Bradsher, who died in 1992, and by one brother and her parents. Ralph Bradsher, 68, of Fisher, died Wednesday at his residence. Born at Harrisburg, he lived most of his life in the Harrisburg and Fisher areas. He was retired from the Weiner public school system and served on the Fisher town board. A veteran of the Army, he was a member of the Fisher United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Nora Bradsher of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Hayes of Belleair, FL; his father, Guy Bradsher of Fisher; one stepson, Charlie Garrett of Heber; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother. He was a farmer and had worked at Lloyd Evans Farms for 21 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Busby. Ida, the Cleburne County Bank of Heber Springs and the First National Bank of Paris. At the time of his death he was serving as chairman of Lake Hamilton Enterprises, Inc., First Paris Holding Co., Capitol Life and Accident Insurance Co. and Butler Management Corp. He remained active in business throughout his entire life. He was employed by Parker Hanifin Corp. in Trumann, had served in the National Guard and was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Trumann. Funeral services for Robert Bankston Cannon, Sr., of the Black Oak Community, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church in Marked Tree, with Rev. J.A. Womack, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Marked Tree Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.H. Harris, Robert Hughes, M.P. Swepston, Hester Parker, E.T. Pearson and Lonnie Layne. Mr. Cannon, who was 37, was stricken with a heart attack Friday afternoon while on his way home after having taken a bale of cotton to a Marked Tree gin. He returned to Marked Tree to receive treatment and died in the doctor's waiting room. He had lived in this community for ten years and was a well known and respected farmer. JAMES W. CANNON James Wallace Cannon, 88, of Wynne, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at Crestpark Nursing Home in Wynne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louella Cornwell Cannon, and three brothers, Isaac, Sam and John Cannon. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Grand Matron of Arkansas. She was also a member of the Garden Club and a Methodist. George B. Cash, Tulot merchant, ginner and planter and vice president of the Bank of Trumann, was found dead in the garage of his home near Tulot Wednesday noon, of last week. County Coroner Paul Thompson of Trumann, said Mr. Cash, "apparently suffered a stroke." He said he had previously suffered a stroke. At the time of Mr. Cash's death, Mrs. Cash was visiting in Memphis. Coroner Thompson said Mr. Cash went home Tuesday night about 7 o'clock, and he remarked he was going to work on his car. He was found in the garage of his home by Foster Miller, who lives nearby. Mr. Thompson said the hood of the car was raised and tools were nearby. He said Mr. Cash had evidently opened the door of his car to get a flashlight. A flashlight was lying on the floor of the car. Mr. Cash and his sister, Mrs. Clifford Purvis, operated the vast Tulot Plantation near Trumann, including a general store and cotton gin. He was born in Trumann and lived there his entire life, except for ten years in Detroit. He was well known citizen of this County, a veteran of World War I, member of the Trumann Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was the son of the late Mr. And Mrs. J. A. Cash, well known pioneer citizens of Trumann. In addition to his sister, he is survived by his wife, and one son, J. A. Cash of Trumann. Funeral serices were held at Faith Baptist Church in Tulot on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, with Rev. H. J. Couchman, pastor of the Methodist Church of Marked Tree, assisted by Rev. Arvill Brannan, pastor of the Trumann Methodist Church officiating. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. Burial was in the Memorial Park at Jonesboro, with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge.

He served two terms in the Arkansas House of Representatives, where he was the first freshman representative to be elected to the Joint Budget Committee, and also served a term in the Arkansas Senate. Chapin was born in Jefferson City, MO and lived most of her life in the Trumann area. She was a retired school teacherand river boat cook; honorary member of the Arkansas Assessors Association; a clerk at the Poinsett County Assessors office; past member of the Twentieth Century Club and the Poinsettia Club of Trumann. Chapin was of the Christian Science faith.

Booker Childs was born August 24, 1919 in Shoffner, Arkansas to the late Mary Lee Hamby. Booker’s loving wife Catherine preceded him in death. Booker lived most of his adult life in Chicago, Illinois until moving to the Trumann, Arkansas in 1971. He lived in Jonesboro for the past two years. Booker was in the U.S. Navy and a World war 11 Veteran. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He leaves to cherish his memory his cousins Cassie McClendon of Detroit, Michigan, Willie E. Mrs. Leona Brack Coats, 78, of Harrisburg, died Saturday at Rose Care Nursing Center in Trumann. Born at Marked Tree to the late James and Ella Mae Mobbs, she was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eulis Brack, a son, William "Bill" Brack and two sisters, Sylvie Crisel and Goldie Randolph. Survivors include two sons, James Brack of Batesville and Donald Brack of Hartselle, AL; four daughters, Katherine Brack Davis of Trumann and Geraldine Brack Gann, Phyllis Brack Roberts and Betty Brack, all of Harrisburg; 18 grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and several daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces and nephews that were very special to her. Mrs. Coza Evelyn Colbert, 70, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday (2-29-2000) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. A native of Greenfield, she had lived in Jonesboro for 40 years. She was a former employee of the GE Co. in Jonesboro. Surviving are her husband, James Colbert of the home; a son, Randy Shopher of Jonesboro; two stepdaughters, Teresa Colbert of Jonesboro and Cindy Turner of Mountain Home; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 at the Bolivar Cemetery near Harrisburg, with Rev. Worth Gibson officiating. Roberto Cole, 79, of Weiner, retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 28th at Methodist Hospital of Jonesboro. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Duckins Cole and one sister, Mrs. Ruby Fay Sims of Hughes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Riley Cole, and by two brothers, Alfred Young and Melvin Young; three sisters, Faye Hubbard, Ruby Loyd and Irene Peppers. Mrs. Daries Cook, 64, of Etowah, died Saturday (1-1-2000) at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Etowah. Survivors include her husband, Roy M. KILLS MATE, SHOOTS SELF Mrs. Maggie James Cooper, 35, killed her husband, Daniel Obediah Cooper, then committed suicide at their tent home near Cherry Valley Sunday night, county officers said Monday. Deputy Sheriff Rudolph Clements of Cherry Valley, who investigated, said Mrs. Cooper shot her husband twice with a .32 caliber pistol, and then a few minutes later fired one shot into her heart. The cause was said to have been family trouble. The couple lived in a tent at a logging camp near the St. Francis Bay. A man living in a nearby tent heard the first two shots and rushed into the tent. He told officers that Mrs. Cooper put the gun in his face and ordered him to leave or get shot. He quoted the woman as saying that she had killed her husband and that she intended to take own life. The man walked out of the tent and a few minutes later she fired the shot that ended her life. Maggie James Cooper and Daniel Obediah Cooper are buried in Tyer Cemetery near Cherry Valley.

Wallace Leroy Cooper, 86, of Rt. 1, Parkin, died Wednesday, April 16, at the Cross County Hospital. Born February 29, 1892, he was a retired farmer and Baptist. Mr. Robie O. Cooper a lifetime resident of Cherry Valley, AR departed this life on Friday, March 26, 1993 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 81. Aftin Copeland, 68, of Brinkley, formerly of Trumann, died Monday at CLA-CLIF Nursing and Rehab Center. Born at Alco, he was a farmer and had moved to Brinkley eight years ago, where he was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Gerald Couch, 67, of Rivervale, died Monday evening (7-16-2000) at his residence. A longtime resident of the Caraway and Rivervale area, he was a retired farmer, a member of The New Hope Baptist Church and Caraway Masonic Lodge No. 733, and was a Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Judy Couch of the home; three sons, Randy Couch, Fred Couch and Terry Couch, all of Caraway; one stepdaughter, Melisa Clevenger of Denver, CO; one stepson, Brit Reed of Denver, CO; one sister, Teresa Morgan of Rivervale; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Gladys "Louise" Counce, 80, of Marked Tree died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Counce was born January 23, 1924 to James Noah Brown and Virgie Virginia Downs Brown, in Deatsville, AL. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Counce. Carlos R. Crouch, 84, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Mayfield, KY, he moved to Harrisburg in 1953 and was the owner and operator of Harrisburg Auto Clinic until he retired. He was a volunteer fireman and fire chief for Harrisburg for more than 25 years and a member of the Harrisburg First Baptist Church for approximately 50 years, serving as a deacon, chairman of deacons, Sunday School superintendent and a member of the House and Grounds Committee. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a Mason and a member of the Harrisburg Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife, Naomi (Scoggin) Crouch of the home; three sons, Don Crouch, Gene Crouch and Dickey Crouch, all of Harrisburg; one sister, Iva Lee Scoggin of Orange Park, FL; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two grandchildren. George Thomas Crowell, 82, of Marked Tree, died Saturday at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. A former Marked Tree mayor, he served as city clerk for 47 years. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the Rotary Club, the initial organizer of Little League in Marked Tree and a longtime American Legion baseball coach. Survivors include one daughter, Tommye Crowell Chandler of Marked Tree; one son, John Crowell of Columbus, MS; two sisters, Hilda Smythe and Jimmy Ruth Gooding, both of Louisville, MS; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Miss Elizabeth Ann Crozier, 96, of 401 Carlson St., Trumann, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the family residence in Trumann. Miss Crozier was born in Wickliffe, KY, May 26, 1903, to the late Joseph Alvin & Mary Agnes McDonald Crozier Sr. She had lived in Trumann since 1968 and was formerly of Cairo, IL, where she taught high school for 45 years. She taught in the Trumann School System form 1968 until 1980. She was the past president of the Illinois Pulaski Co. Teachers Assoc., the Mound City Junior Woman's Club, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Trumann Twentieth Century Club. Miss Crozier was of the Episcopal faith and she attended the First United Methodist Church in Trumann. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Crozier, Frank Crozier and Fred Crozier Coleman; two sisters, Mary Crozier and Irene Crozier Herzfeldt and her parents. Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Dorothy Crozier Wright of Dallas, Mrs. Denise Colman Postell of Florida and Mrs. Catherine Coleman; seven nephews, Joe Crozier Jr. of Memphis, Hollis Crozier of Kappa Kauai, Hawaii, Alfred Crozier of Houston, TX, Joe Bruce Crozier of Kensington, MD, Fred Crozier Coleman of Puducah, KY, Mike Coleman of NC, and Donald Crozier Herzfeldt of Sheboyhan, WI; nine great nieces, 11 great nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Pat Simms officiating. A private burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro. Pallbearers were Dr. Floyd Smith, Dale Harvison, Ray Knight, Eugene Pounds, Louis Beyersdorf, Maurice McMillin and Jim Methvin. Honorary pallbearers were the Twentieth Centuty Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.

CUNNINGHAM

HARRISBURG-Ray B. Cunningham, 78, of Harrisburg died Sunday, June 27, at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born at Camp, he had lived in the Harrisburg and Trumann areas most of his life. He was an Army veteran, had worked as a maintenance technician for the Singer Co. and was a Baptist. Survivors include three sons, James Cunningham, Gary Cunningham and Jerry Cunningham, all of Bay; two sisters, Ruby Propes of Jonesboro and Imogene Muse of Trumann; and three grandchildren, Wesley Cunningham and Wade Cunningham, both of Trumann, and Angela Taylor Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ann Cunningham; his parents, Grover Cleveland and Myrtel May Kirby Cunningham; one brother, and one sister. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg. Active pallbearers will include Chall Hill, Odell Everhart, Ronnie Everhart, Bill Hickman, Buddy Cox and Gerald Benson. Honorary pallbearers will include Lowell Brooks and Delbert Loggins. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Cecil C. Curell, 79, of Weiner, who died Wednesday at his home, will be held this afternoon at 2 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner with J.B. Huber officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Weiner. Active pallbearers will be Gene Caraway, Bill Reece, B.C. Gulley, Si Phillips and Kenneth Gulley. Visitation will be from 11 this morning until 1 this afternoon at the funeral home in Weiner. A Protestant, he was a mechanic and a crop duster pilot as well as owner of Curell Mowing Service. He graduated from a vocational school, was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and spent most of his life in Weiner. Survivors include his wife, Edna Curell of the home; four daughters, Dorothy Lee of Pensacola, FL, Carolyn Rigali of Dallas, TX, Gloria Cole of Carlisle and Ann Guffey of Belton, MO; three stepsons, James Paul George of Beaumont, TX, Eugene George of Dayton, TX, and Charles Russell of Jonesboro; three stepdaughters, Ann Guffey of Belton, Rebecca Smith and Gloria Cole of Carlisle; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three stepsons. The family asks that memorials be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery fund.
