My Great grandfather, Ervin Green Jackson, lived in Gwinnett County for
most of his life. He was b. 25 May 1875 and d. 9 March 1945. He is the
son of Albert and Elizabeth Jackson. He married first Hattie (?), and
second, my great grandmother Pearl Minerva Dutton Bennett. There were
2 children by Hattie; Harvey T., and Martin Allen, and 9 children by my
great grandmother; Dollie Mae, Robert Lee, Era, Walter, Mamie, Annie B.,
Wilfred, Homer, & Logan. Ervin G. Jackson is known to have had 3 jobs.
the first occupation was farmer. The second was a railroad worker, and
his 3rd job was as a prison guard. I have a poem that was written as a
memorial to him by one of the prisoners. It mentions the "Old River
Camp". I am interested in any information on this family, but especially
any information I can find on the "Old River Camp" prison. I believe
that this prison camp was probably in Gwinnett County or very nearby
since that is where my great grandfather lived. I also wondered if "Old
River Camp" was the name of the prison or just a nickname for it. I also
would like to know its location. Because of the name, I am inclined to
believe that there may have been a River nearby. I would appreciate any
information that anyone can give me. If you have anything on this
family, or on the prison camp, please e-mail me at admarsh@paradise.net.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Seems like I'm kin to half of Gwinnett Co., and know the other half! My Pittards, who came from Caswell Co., NC to Oglethorpe, then Clarke Co., then Gwinnett) are from around Lilburn, and the rest of them in the county are kin, too. I am also kin to the COLE, LANDERS and CORLEY families in Gwinnett Co. I hope to get my over 8,000 person database (a good portion of whom are from Gwinnett) up on the web at some point, but until then will answer questions on names as soon as I can. And if you are kin to any of these names, I would especially like to hear from you and exchange information.

DAVIS, 1910-1986), and my grandfather Otis (1894-1968, married Mattie HERRINGTON 1900-1930). Any info would be appreciated. I was raised in a children's home and I'm trying to put the pieces together.
Thanks!

My wife Carolyn is a descendant of Elias Baker, who lived in Gwinnett
County at one time. I forget the dates, but he or his sons removed to
Searcy County, Arkansas. I have our tree on Gendex:

Many of the Bakers that went to Arkansas, then came to Texas in the
1890's and settled around Oenavile, Bell County, Texas.
Charles Riley Duncan b March 24, 1805 m Elizabeth R. Garner b Feb 21, 1817 Sept. 12, 1835 in Fulton CO., GA. When reveiwing the census to find parents I find both Garners and Duncans in Gwinnett County. Does anyone have information on these two families in this county?Charles and Elizabeth had a dau. Matilda Duncan that married first Meredith Reynolds who was killed int he Civil War and second Thomas Smith b 1833. These marriages took place in Prentiss Co., MS.
It's me again! I have Sparks and Turner families in Gwinnett County prior to and shortly after the Civil War. Several of the Sparks and Turner family members moved to Arkansas after the war (pope/Johnson county areas). Appreciate any info you may have to offer regarding these two families. Specifically, George Washington Sparks; 1843 and Sara Jane Turner and her brother William Littleton Turner...same time frame.
Joshua Hutchins B. 1807 GA: From the mid-1800's til his death lived in the Auburn/Carl area of Gwinnett County which later became Barrow County. Who were his parents? He and many of his descendants and allied families buried at Midway Methodist Church in Carl.
Don't think he is related to those Lawrenceville Hutchins families--but you never know!

I have quite a lot of research on a Marandy/Mirandy Clinton Malone (md. Nancy Drummond, 1833 in Gwinnett Co., Ga.-license obtained in Walton Co., Ga.) who lived in Reid's District until the late 1850's. Family lore is M.C. Malone raced horses, and he and a group of other Gwinnett Co., Ga. families (Hills, Reids, Bridges families) moved to Clarke Co., Ga. One son married a Hill, one daughter a Hill, and one daughter a Reid in Gwinnett Co., Ga. 1850's. I have estate returns, etc. on this family. I was told by a Reid descendant that they (families listed above) traveled by wagon train with one wagon loaded with gold, but met on hard times in Arkansas, and had to spend most of money just to eke out a daily existence. Have done a lot of research on the Reid family, which intermarried with Gastons...and some minor research on the Hills, which had Walton Co., Ga. ties. I have seen forms of Marandy Clinton Malones name in a Gwinette Co., Ga. family of Nathan Clarke/Clark (Malone Clinton Clark and Maude Marandy Clark) Searching for any ties with a Clark family. Marandy also seen in Gwinnett Co., Ga. record with a Nathan Harris, William Whorton/Whorten, who married Dolly Sansom in 1813 Jasper Co., Ga.(a sister of Marandy's mother). Searching for any family members of the above to exchange info with.
Hi Bill,
I saw your Gwinnett Co., GA HOMEPAGE on the Georgia GenWeb. Very Impressive! The Garmany's (Hamilton & James) who lived there very early, are brothers to my 4g-grandfather, William Garmany, who lived there also, before he moved to AL. I have information on Hamilton (moved to Walker Co. Ga.) and James (he was a Dr. and his family went to AR) as well as all their brothers and sisters, that I will gladly share.
I will be glad to share this data to others who are interested. You could
enter me as a "Garmany" researcher if you desire and feel free to give my
name to others who are interested in this family.
