My grandfather was John Rueben Campbell, Polk Co. Ga., his dad was Patrick Campbell, Polk Co., Ga. My great great grandad was Aaron Campbell who appeared in the 1850 census of Gwinnett Co.. His wife was Mary E., He had children named Lodiskey, Patrick(my great g'pa) Sarah Jane. We would like to find Aaron's dad. In the 1850 census listed in the Cains district with Aaron was a William Campbell, wife Galotia, and children Galotia, Mary and James. Could Aaron be his son. There was also Jane, listed as widow from Ireland with two children listed with her. Could this be William's mom. Does anyone have knowledge of this family. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
I am searching for Roger Speer(Spear) who married Martha Ann Rutledge in Gwinnett county on Sept 16, 1884. They had two children, Roger Lawson Speer, Jr, and William Dixon Speer. Thomas Speer, wife Mary is on the 1880 Gwinnett county census with five children, Georgia, Roger, Lilian, James, and Robert. Could this be the correct family? The 1900 census has Roger Speer living in Atlanta ,widower, with the two sons. What happened to Martha Ann (maybe called Mattie)? Any help would be appreciated, all inquires will be promptly answered.

Hello from France,
Could you perhaps have a quick look on your records of Gwinnett County to see if you have anything on early Hewat(t)'s - the spelling is unusual, and they are today concentrated in Ga/SC.
One of them wrote me:
I have a ggg grandfather named Alexander Hewatt (1797-1857). He came to
Georgia from South Carolina around 1825. This is as far back as I have any
information. This information came from "The History of Gwinnett County,
Georgia" by Marvin Nash Worthy.
My own gggg grandfather, Andrew Hewatt was a loyalist planter in South Carolina. (His name was apparently spelled with 2 t's, though his family used only one). He was a Loyalist, and was expelled in 1777, but had married into a patriot family. His wife Katherine Brisbane Elliott apparently died during the war, and their baby son Alexander Hewatt disappeared, perhaps raised by the Brisbane or Elliot (Patriot) families.
I would like to learn more about Alexander Hewatt (1797-1857), who may be the son of my gggg grandfather's baby, Alexander Hewatt.
Further information about my SC/Ga ancestors is on:
I'm interested in finding other descendants of Samuel C. Born son of John Born, also William V. Bailey, and William Harrison White. Other Gwinnett County connections also of interest, e.g., Kennedy surname, and those associated with Sugar Hill Baptist Church and Level Creek Methodist Church in late 1800's.

Researching family of John WINN lived in Gwinnett Co., GA in 1850. b. ca 1816 in SC, came to GA as a young boy with his family. He married Mahala Moore, dau of James Walker Moore and Nancy (BROWN?]. They had: Joseph S. b.1838, Nancy A. b. 1842, John V. b.1844, Eliza J. b.1846/7 and Zachariah Taylor WINN b. 10 Oct 1849. All b. Gwinnett Co., and they lived Harbin's Dist.
This family lived close to the Thomas WYNNE & Mary Prince BENSON family, and Thomas & Mary had a son born in SC who came to GA with his parents at about age 8 and he was born about 1816. Problem is, this John WINN supposedly married an Alice Bobo and she outlived him. Thomas WYNNE'S children, some of them, spelled their names WINN. My John WINN went to Hamilton Co., TN where I believe he must have died by 1860.
Mahala went to Fremont, Neb. with son Zachariah and was there in the 1870 census. She came back and went to Hall Co., GA and lived with son Joseph & family. She died in an institution in 1903 and was buried in the Pauper Cem. in Auburn. Her brother was Dr. Russell B. MOORE I have searched alot of WINN/WYNNE families in this area, and will search my files for anyone researching. This family has been elusive for a long time and I'm so glad I found this website! Thank you, Laura
