Initial info from Ruth Teel. Pension records show that John served from NC. He
appears on the 1800 census Nash Co., NC. He moved to TN about 1801 and in 1813
he is on the tax rolls in Muehlenberg, KY. His will was probated 9 July 1842
in Gibson Co., IN. Some information may indicate that he was not from
Pasquotank Co., but rather Nash or Halifax (where he was discharged). Info
from Nancy Miller. Served in Revolutionary War as a Captian under the ranks
of Col. Benjamin Seawell of the North Carolina line. Granted a pension of $96

Presley Pritchett married Martha in TN, moved to Muhlenburg Co., KY from 1805
to 1818, working as a hatter. They lived also in Hopkins CO., near Madison-
ville, being the first settlers there and ran a tavern, abt 1807-1808, later
returning to Muhlenburg. They lived in Vanderburgh Co., in 1820. In 1816,
Presley moved from Greenville, KY to Cynthiana, IN. In 1817, he moved to Evans
ville, and then in 1822 he moved to Mt. Vernon.

Presley Pritchett and family and the household plunder came down on a flat
boat. Martin & William--his sons, came through by land leading a calf apiece,
the cows following behind. The boys got there 48 hours in advance of the
family and were put up with Thomas James, who kept the Red tavern on the lot
now occupied by the First National Bank. Martin is now a great grandfather
living in this city (Mt. Vernon) and William has been gone for many years.
