Name: David E. Glenn Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: St. Louis, Mo Time: 1999-12-12 07:27:11 Comments: I am a descendant of William M. Glenn and his son Roy L. (born Leroy on July 3, 1913). My Grandfathers' wife was named Luella Kirksey, daughter of William D. Kirksey born 1832 in Georgia to William Kirksey of S. Carolina. My mother, Mildred Ouanita Sprinkle, aka. last name Stevens was born to Leathell Sprinkle, December 20 or 22, 1924 at North Little Rock, Ark. her father is (forgive me this is quite controversial) Henry Harris, born approximately 1860 possibly Arkansas- I was told that my mother was informed of her father at church when she was a little girl and told his name, please forgive me, but this is as accurate as I know-I hope not to offend!!! I wish to get information on my family, again this is important: do not be offended by this last statement, as I know my grandmother has some faults, from what I have been told. I am seeking any records on the Sprinkle/Harris/Glenn/Kirksey, and all related lines. I wish to develop contacts with any descendants of these families in the area and elsewhere, my knowledge is very limited, other than census information. I however know of sources in books about Craighead County, that I would like to receive. Thank You and God Bless, David E. Same census, there is a household of Andrew and Louisa Tannehill with no children listed. In the 1880 census Walter J. is listed in the home with Andrew and Louisa, along with Edmond 20, Frank 16, Josie 14, and Will 12. Walter is listed as 11 in the 1880 census. If there were no children listed in home of Andrew and Louisa in the 1870, whose children are these? Any suggestions? |

Name: Carol Ann Helms Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: Time: 1999-07-24 23:49:16 Comments: I am Carol Ann Jones Helms and I live in Tyler, Texas. My Mother is Elvie Laverne Beard who was born in Ripley, Tenn. on 5-30-1917 and she is still alive and living in San Antonio, TX. Her Mother was Ola Garrett who was born on 6-20-1893 in Ripley, Tenn. to Theolphoeous Lee Garrett who was married to Katherine Crutchfield. I found them both on your Garrett genealogy page near the bottom of Page 2. Ola Garrett , my grandmother married Lonnie Louis Beard in apx. 1916 who was born in Halls, Tennessee on 12-10-1892. My mother told me Ola Garrett's father, Theolphoeous Lee Garrett, was a banker in Ripley, Tenn. if I remember correctly. My grandmother Ola Garrett Beard died in Floral City, Florida on 5-7-1984. I will try and find out if she had any sisters or brothers. I remember my grandmother telling me the last time I saw her in 1983 her father, Theolphoeous Lee Garrett, was killed in a buggy accident. She told me she kept telling her mother she thought something was wrong because her daddy was late in getting home and it made her mother mad. Then later they found out he had been killed in a buggy accident. I guess it happened in the area of Ripley, Tenn. and he may be buried in Edith Cemetery there in Ripley. Do you have any cemetery records of the Edith Cemetery in Ripley? I appreciate the help I got from your Garrett Family Page on the Internet. I am not quite sure how to read it. Who was Theolphoeous Lee Garrett's father and grandfather and so on----if it is not too much trouble. I feel like I hit a gold mine! Thank you so much. |

Time: 1999-05-15 23:13:09 Comments: I lived in Jonesboro, back in 1934, with my aunt Edith Parker, who was divorced from a Herbert Parker, who ran a drugstore in Jonesboro, so I have been told. I attended South School and my lst grade teacher was a Ms. Cora Duke. What I would like to find out though is if there ever was an obituary notice for my grandfather and grandmother, who died prior to my coming to Jonesboro, after my own mother died (January 31, 1933) in Booneville, AR. My grandfather was William Grant MAXTED, who died on September 26, 1933 and my grandmother died on January 23, 1934. I tried to check with the Sun, but they had no information and I was referred to another place which told me that there would probably not be an obituary notice placed in the paper unless they were very important people of the community. Oh, by the way, I did not mention that my grandmother's name was Emma Jane MAXTED and I thought she was a very important person in the community, since she was a well known artist. Also, if possible, I would like to know which cemetery they were buried in. At this time myself and one other person (Charles F. Parker, who resides in CA) are the last living relatives of this union, that have very much info on the MAXTED family of Jonesboro. Thank you for your help, Bill. |
