Name: Kay F. James Website: Referred by: SimpleNet From: Southern, Illinois Time: 1998-12-05 02:25:53 Comments: It seems I am not having much luck finding my information very readily. I am searching this area for a branch of my mother's family in Weiner, Ark. My mother's maiden name was Helen Moore, she was the daughter of John B. & Mary nee Limbert Moore. She was born in Murphysboro, Ill. Dec. 28, 1916, this being in Jackson Co. IL. Mary Limbert's parents were: William and Ella nee Spencer(born in Perry Co. Ill. to Robert and Elizabeth Spencer)Limbert. William Limbert's parents were; William and Anna nee Kay Limbert. Both born in England. Anna's father was John Kay of Barnsley England per family legend. WIlliam Limbert was also said to be born there. They emmigrated to the U.S from England at least by 1873 and his naturalization papers in the Courthouse at Murphysboro, Ill. shows that his oath given in 1877. I have been in contact with a gentleman by the name of Limbert who's father lives near Barnsley England and he says that the worlds greatest concentration of Limbert's are located in that area. He is willing to search our line there for us and may have the information at hand. I would like to contact some of William and Hannah's line that moved to Weiner Ark. I believe his name was James Limbert. My gr.grandfather Wm. Limbert was the only child born in the United States altho there are two infant girls burried in the family plot located at City Cemetery in Murphysboro. I heard from my mother before she died several yrs ago that Weiner, Ark. was where they located and somehow I heard they had access to a trunk with Kay family information. I would very much like to make contact with this part of the family. There is only one living male Limbert descendent living in Murphysboro, Ill. still. I am in my late (VERY LATE)50's and he is a few yrs. older then me. There is another one living in Missouri that I know of, they are 1st. cousins. Any information would be appreciated. My mother's two sisters, Ella Mae and Grace E are still living and they would like to make contact as well. Thanks for any help. Would be more then willing to share information..... Thanks Kay F. James |

His father George was said to have worked as a foreman for the "Frisco" Railroad. They then moved to Illinois, which may have been a job transfer for George. Mothers maiden name was Lexesmer. George had a sister Chesley and a sister Minnie. I have no information on Edwin, exept his birth in Jonesboro and of him living in Somerville, Ma. where he eventually enlisted in the U.S. Navy. |

Name: Dan Klocman Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In! From: Time: 1997-08-30 03:13:00 Comments: Dear Mr. B. Couch I e-mailed you last weekend regarding the names of my great grandparents T.J.Cothern (Thomas Jackson Cothern) and Zora Cothern who were believed to be buried at the Shiloh Cemetery in Jonsboro Arkansas. I have new information that Zora Cothern's full name was Elzora Cothern. I received your earlier e-mail in which you found their oldest son buried at Trinity Cemetery in Craighead County. His name was Autney Cothern. His brother W.J (BUD) Cothern was found at Shiloh. T.J.Cothern and Zora Cothern are buried side by side with a rather larger headstone reading Zora Cothern 1869-1943 and T.J. Cothern 1876-1941. I was wondering if you were able to find out any further information regarding these names. I now know that Elzora's maiden name was Castleberry. I am still looking for Elzora Cothern's (Castleberry) parents names and or descendants of hers. Thank -you so much for your time and consideration.

Name: Carolyn Rains Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In! From: Time: 1997-07-26 14:23:00 Comments: I have begun to research my husband's family - the Rains. I found your web page on the Rains and the names have familiar rings. My husband's name is Doyle Edward Rains, Sr. b. 2/18/1938. His father is A. Z. Vernon Rains b. 11/14/1914. A. Z. Vernon Rains' father was James Robert Rains b. 10/10/1890. We only know James Robert Rains married Rockie Mae Jeffords. We know James Robert Rains had a brother named Claude. James Robert died at Sumner, Mississippi which, I believe, is Tallhatchie County, MS. Several of A. Z. Vernon Rains' brothers lived and died in Arkansas, especially in the West Memphis area. I suspect the line you have listed here may be linked. Do you have any additional data? Thanks. Carolyn Rains |
