Will of Isaac Couch
In the name of God, Amen. I Isaac Couch of the District of Laurens
and State of South Carolina farmer, being of sound mind and disposing
memory, and in perfect health, but calling to mind the uncertainty of
life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it
hath pleased God bless me with, do make and ordain this my last will
in manner following, that is to say. I give and bequeath to my
loving wife Sufsanna Couch during her natural life of widowhood the
plantation whereon I now live together with every thing here on
except what is herein after mentioned, and after her death the whole
of the personal estate what she shall not have dypofsd of to be
equally divided, share and share alike, between my three children,
Becey Stroud, wife of John Stroud, Sugassa Roberson, wife of Barnchap
Roberson, and my son Samuel Couch. I give and bequeath to my son
Samuel Couch after the marriage or death of my wife Sufanna all that
tract or plantation whereon I now live containing one hundred acres
more or less. I also five and bequeath to my son Samuel one brown
hoop, one cow and calf, one feather bed and furniture, also six
pewter plates, one pewter dish, and bason. And lastly, I do
constitute my said son Samuel Couch executor of this my last will and
testament, Hereby revoking all other and forsaken will and testament
by me heretofore made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this twenty second day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and seventeen. Signed, sealed, published,
and declared as and for the last will and testament of the above
named Isaac Couch in the presence of us.
