ABRAHAM'S COMPANY MOUNTED VOLUNTEERS.
Arkansas State Troops.

This company was organized in that part of Lafayette County which constitutes present-day Miller County.  It was organized under orders of the State Military Board, and enrolled in State service on May 31, 1864.  The company was commanded by Capt. James Abraham.  The only known records of this company are a list of officer appointments, dated June 1, 1864; and a payroll covering the period March 1 to May 25, 1865.  Abraham’s company is believed to have been a part of the 1st Battalion Arkansas State Troops, and was subsequently attached to Trader’s (later Newton’s) regiment of Arkansas State Troops.  As far as is known, Abraham’s company served in southwest Arkansas for the last year of the war. — Bryan Howerton, researcher.
