This company was on detached service in Newton and Caroll Counties when the last muster roll should have been made out, consequently we made none. Remained there until Col Brooks  came in to recruit. I reported to him 1st of Oct 1863 near Huntsville, Ark. Went with him to Keetsville, MO,, from thense to Kingston, Ark on the 21st of Oct 1863. The federals being in pursuit of Gen Shelby, him passing that point, I reported to him and came and joined this brigade on the 5th Nov 1863 near Washington, Hempstead, Ark.Distance travelled 1000 miles.
These boys who are reported to be in the federal lines were cut off at Kingston, Ark thense going home to get their clothes, the federals getting between them and their command.
