ORGANIZATION: Organized 3 Jun 1861 with 4 Arkansas Companies and 2 Louisiana Companies for the war. Reduced to 3 Companies ca 30 Apr 1862. Consolidated with the 2nd Cavalry Battalion and designated as the 2nd Cavalry Regiment at Corinth, MS 15 May 1862.
