" (My great-great grandfather, known as Capt. Gabriel Jones Davie, from what information I have from a newspaper article in a Collin County, Texas paper in the early 1900s.  "G.J. Davie moved to Arkansas in 1860, enlisted in Company C of the Confederate Army Second Arkansas Mounted Infantry in 1861 under McCullough and went to Corinth in 1862.  He was at Reorganization after Second Corinth and was Captain of Company B Second Kentucky.  He was wounded with two sabre strokes at Elkhorn, received a shotgun wound at Oak Hill on Wilson Creek, and surrendered Under Taylor in Louisiana."   On his tombstone it says, "Capt. Gabriel J. Davie, Company C, Arkansas, Civil War."  He was born in Montgomery County, Tenn. on March 9, 1836.   I will be happy to send  you a copy of the newpaper article if you like and I personally saw his tombstone in Nevada (Collin County, Texas) in the 1970s.
