DANIEL ADKINSON, a prisoner of war was murdered on 22d by RICHARD HOOD, First Arkansas Battery. I requested and demanded of Capt Stark to place HOOD under arrest which he refused to do. He also refused to furnish the necessary guard to guard prisoners. I would request that you order HOOD under arrest and that Stark or myself be relieved from duty here. The murder was unprovoked and the Leut justified it.

NOTE: HOOD'S records show that he was confined 25 Apr 1865 and was released 4 May 1865 with no evidence of a trial. HOOD was promoted to Cpl 1 Sep 1863.
