MARMADUKES (18TH) ARKANSAS INFANTRY REGIMENT

Also known as: 1st Battalion of Arkansas Infantry
              3rd Confederate Infantry Regt

Organized by the addition of 2 companies to the 1st Ark Inf Bn in Dec 1861. The designation was change on 31 Jan 1862 to the 3rd Confederate Infantry Regiment, Jonathan S. Marmaduke, Col, Commanding. The third Confederate Infantry Regiment was raised directly into the confederacy, the records of which are not included in the film of the states. The film is included in the section of "Units raised directly by the Confederate Government".  REcords of these companies generated after 31 Jan 1862 should be included in the latter records.

Company B, was formerly Co F, 15th TN Detached Inf

Company C, was formerly Co O, 1st Bn Ark Inf

Company D, was formerly Co P, 1st Bn Ark Inf

Company E, was formerly Co Q, 1st Bn Ark Inf

Company F, was formerly Co R, 1st Bn Ark Inf

Company G, was formerly Co S, 1st Bn Ark Inf

Company H, was formerly Co T, 1st Bn Ark Inf (Originally Keep's Ind Co of MS Vols (Also known as  "Swamp Rangers" and "Swamp Fox Rangers"

Company I, was formerly Co ??,  1st Bn Ark Inf

Company K,  known as "Rector Guards"
