The following information was extracted from microfilm of Civil War service records by Edward GERDES and Danny Honnoll (Pres of the Craighead Co Historical Society)

The following CSA soldiers enlisted in Co B 23rd Arkansas Infantry Regt in Phillips Co, AR during the organization period of March 1862.Both Companies B and E were raised in Phillips County and personnel from both units are intermingled on this roster.

NOTE: Of the approximately 155 recorded deaths in this regiment during the war, only 12 resulted from battle. The remainder was from disease.
