Jeri and J. Edgar Again !

IZARD COUNTY ARKANSAS
The first extant Izard County tax records after Arkansas statehood are for the year 1839. Much more information is included than in the territorial records. In addition to real property descriptions, poll tax and personal property tax are also shown. Personal property included livestock and slaves. The Izard Country courthouse burned in 1889 , destroying most of the county records. Researchers have been severely handicapped because of the loss, but one alternate source of information is the early tax records.
