First Generation

3 Josiah (Joseph) HARNED (R:3), born on 18 Mar 1817 at Orange Co., Indiana; died on 14 Dec 1873 at Sharp Co., Arkansas.

Family Tree compiled by John Shyrock Harned, 1/2 brother of Josiah. This tree can be dated between 1871-1880. Josiah is found enlisting in Co. D., 7th Arkansas Infantry on 26 July 1861 at Camp Shaver. This record shows he was discharged 17 Dec 1861. He was discharged because of a broken arm. He is enlisted under the name Josiah Horned. There is also a record of service for Joseph Harnard in Co. H., 45 Arkansas Cavalry. The record shows this group surrendered on the 11th May 1865 to Major General G.M. Dodge, commanding department of Missouri. This is more than likely my Josiah as he went by both names Joseph and Josiah and I have also found his last name spelled both ways. The record show his age and birthplace as correct for my Josiah Harned.
